Beuatiful LWB in excellent condition. Original, immaculate & fully serviced.

Roll-RoyceSilver Shadow “LWB” Long Wheel Base 1974 Immaculate original presentation This is one of the last of the Silver Shadow Long Wheel Bases (“LWB”) made. It can be confidently said that the 1974-76 year manufactured Silver Shadows were the best of the series as they incorporated all of the technological and design enhancements developed over the life of the model (1966-76). Being a LWB it represented the ultimate of the series. This one is finished in “Cardinal Red” with light cream Connolly hide interior with burgundy piping and matching floor rugs in the reverse theme. The car is finished with hand-painted gold fine-lines on the body waist-line and the hub-cap trim rings. The color is a stunning combination with the Cardinal Red presenting as a mid Bordeaux under typical light but then transforms into a deep burgundy hue in lower light and at night time. giving the car a very formal look. The cream leather finished off with burgundy piping sets the interior off perfectly. The carpets in the reverse theme are a very formal touch. The body on the car is straight and the paint is very nice. It has been a Californian car its entire life. It was professionally repainted some 15 years ago so it presents well. Other than the odd little chip (very minor) the paint is excellent. Consistent. high in luster and no signs of any over-spray on any externally fitted part. The Everflex vinyl top is original factory fitment. has never been changed and is in excellent condition without any signs of underlying moisture issues which are otherwise typical of these cars. This being a LWB. it is 4” longer than the standard saloon with this extra space being offered for the benefit of rear seat passengers. The car has its original rear seat foot-rests. Long Wheel Base cars are easily identified by their unique smaller rear window and factory Everflex tops. The interior of the car is in stunning condition with virtually perfect original Connolly hide leather. The leather has never been replaced or repaired. Excellent testament to its relatively low mileage (any lines you may see in the photos are the “natural” creases in the leather – for some reason. they are accentuated in the photos whereas in real life the seats present with welcoming patina that is just gorgeous). The leather is soft and supple. because it has been lovingly preserved. A great welcome with true “original leather” is the colour characteristics. If you look at the pictures of the interior. there are some close up shots that clearly show the colour is not just plain cream. but with a “burnished” tone to the leather. You can see the cream base and then in the fine natural grain of the leather is a darker tone. This natural quasi “antique” leather look (like a Chesterfield couch) was achieved by the hand rubbing Connollising technique that made this leather so famous and for which its name now describes the correct procedure for refinishing leather – “Connollising”. Leather that has been re-dyed by typical methods is “mono-toned” featuring only the 1 primary colour. As such. it lacks depth and richness that unrestored Connolly hide has to offer. All the wood is in excellent condition with dash all original and the door cappings redone by Madera wood that is simply flawless. The headlining is in beautiful condition without any of the "grubbiness" often seen on these wool headliners. The carpet is also excellent. The deep grain and glossy finish of the rich grained wood in this example combined with the regal burgundy offset cream interior makes it all very rich and inviting. **For the winning bidder. a set of genuine Rolls-Royce lambswool mouton rugs are available (driver side shown in pics). All interior feature and functions are fully operational including all electrics – seats. windows. gauges. clock etc. The A/C blows icy cold and heater working well. Everything is all so clean and crisp. It has its original push-button radio and factory installed 8-track cassette – not many left these days. The chrome and bright work is stunning without any pitting and the rubber around the car is good. Mechanically. the car is in superior condition and the presentation under the bonnet and under carriage clearly shows that. It has not been “done-up” for sale but maintained in original condition. All hydraulics and brakes have been inspected and tested. working well. Exhaust is good. The car has been fully work-shop inspected. The car comes with the correct jack. tools and operating manual. This is a 9. 5 out of 10 driver example that needs nothing else doing. It makes for a gorgeous “weekender” that you could take to your next RR meet with pride and joy. ~~ Being a significantly way-above average example of a Silver Shadow. and being a LWB. this will bring a good price.
