Description

1995 Bentley Continental Convertible Chassis no. SCBZD02C3SCX50113 Sold for 160. 000 a few months ago. While Rolls-Royce purchased Bentley in 1931. from the mid-1950s onward. most of the Flying B's cars were badge engineered Rolls-Royces. By the 1980s. Bentley's identity was in serious need of redress. and the enthusiasm within parent Rolls-Royces offices came with the new Muslanne. Bentley's equivalent to the Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit. Further distinction was achieved turbocharged Muslanne. The introduction of the two-door Continental established the sporting nature of the Bentley marque. Featuring a body boldly painted with color-matched bumpers. grill. and mirrors along with an interior that included a gauge cluster with a full compliment of dials (harking back Bentley's of yore. like the Speed Six. lot 430 in Friday's sale) and seats with great support for more spirited driving. Stiffened suspension. added power from the reliable 6. 75-liter V8. and alloy wheels finished off the package. Initially produced along side its counterpart. the Corniche. by company owned coachbuilder Mulliner Park Ward in the London production facility on Hythe Road. the recession of the early 1990s sent production forced closure of the 55 year-old Hythe Road facility. Now produced in the Crewe factory. the final Continentals emerged with all of the improvements that the many years of production of the Continental and Corniche had afforded. As production wound down in 1995 with the impending introduction of the all-new Bentley Azure. only 17 Bentley Continental Convertibles rolled off the line in that year and only about eight made it to the US. Delivered new to its only owner. a gentleman from Beverly Hills. and loaded to the hilt. this rare Bentley is certainly among the nicest of the 17 built. Ordered in Masons Black with matching Connolly hides trimmed in St James piping and featuring a factory installed entertainment system that includes headrest mounted televisions. this Bentley has been meticulously serviced since new. A new Everflex top. Wilton wool headliner. and tires are among the recently replaced items that have helped give this 25. 00-mile-from-new its showroom floor appearance. A rare opportunity to own the last and finest of the breed. For more info or questions please call or text +1 714 425 1574
