Description

1974 MGB V8Vin# GHN5UE365192-14 year old ground up restoration-Rover 3. 5l aluminum V8 engine-four speed w/overdrive transmission-dynamic coil-over front suspension-pertronix electric ignition-Edlebrock carburetor-Tonneau cover-indoor car cover-the car has always been parked indoors in a climate controlled garage and driven regularly-Cosmetics: -Paint and chrome in good condition (14 years old)-Rubber window trim in ok condition-Vinyl top in good condition. rear window still clear and flexible. one 2" slash on drivers side (could easily be patched)-Mechanical -this car is tip top mechanically. I would not hesitate to drive it across the country right now. In fact it was my wife's daily driver in Los Angeles for a year with no major issues. -only little fixes have been needed over the 12 plus years my wife and I have owned it-all receipts. including the restoration are in hand-WHAT'S NEEDED-in typical Lucas form. things like gauges and blinkers are intermittent and need to be addressed. I believe there is a loose ground or need for some new or additional relays. PLEASE NOTE. nothing concerning the operation of the engine is affected electronically. it has always been very reliable. Head Lights. brake lights. engine operation are 100% operational. -Wheels could use a repaint to look perfect-Passenger fog lamp has a rock strike hole in the glass-Heater control linkage needs some attention. does not operate smoothly-SUMMARYThis has been a wonderful little car to me and my wife. we met each other when it was her daily driver. There has only been three times it let us down. the first was a U-joint that went bad in Las Vegas. we had it replaced there. The second was a copper seal ring on the clutch fluid reservoir banjo fitting that began to leak. I replaced that. The last time was the Allison electronic ignition that came with the restoration went bad. I replaced it with a Pertronix ignition and distributor specifically designed for the Rover V8. At the same time I got rid of the MSD spark amplifier to simplify the system. The restoration was done by two MGB master mechanics from Albuquerque with 30 years experience between them. They made it a point to build the car almost entirely to factory specifications. Factory parts were used as much as possible with safety and handling improvements made where possible. -The restoration is still evident in this cars appearance. but it is 14 years old and is starting to show its age. It could continue to be a sweet little sleeper as it sits or if someone was inclined. a little money and attention could make it a premo MGB V8.
