REASONABLE RESERVE!!
For your consideration from San Clemente California, s this BEAUTIFUL MGB, est described as a true “Keeper”. The closer you look at this car, he more you may well decide that this could be the one for you. Bottom line, ust get in, urn on the key, nd take off down the road. This could be the one that you've been waiting for!
WELL SORTED OUT
The British have a saying in The Mother Country that a classic car either has, r hasn't been “Well Sorted Out.” What does this mean? Experienced enthusiasts know, hat in addition to having an automobile with respectable cosmetics, “sorted” automobile is the optimum car to own. Normally, his doesn't happen overnight. Rather, nless a buyer is extremely lucky, he car will be purchased, riven for a while, ome things fixed, aken for a little longer trip, ore things attended to and so on, uilding confidence. Eventually the dedicated enthusiast will look forward to planning vacations and much longer trips, nowing that their “well sorted” little gem is unlikely to develop serious problems along the way. Of course, t never hurts to go on trips with your MG club!
I have driven and enjoyed this fine automobile, nd I can tell you one thing. Whoever owned and/or cared for this 1976 MGB knew what they were doing. They knew how to “sort out” an automobile, nd did so with this one. When you fire the car up, t runs and hums like a top. First rate stuff going on here.
In my opinion, o drive this classic is to love it. Frankly, t's what these cars are all about. The following are some mechanical highlights:
Excellent oil pressure – 75psi
Engine runs cool and strong
The clutch is solid, nd the transmission smooth
Rack and pinion steering is precise
Suspension is tight
Handles the road and corners well
Brakes and emergency brake are excellent
Correct Zenith-Stromberg carburetor, xcellent operating choke
WHAT WORKS?Among other things, ll Smiths gauges, ncluding gas, il pressure, peedometer, achometer, nd heat gauges, orrect dash Smiths clock, eadlights, ncluding high and low beams, ail lights, ncluding brake lights and running lights, ront running lights, OG LIGHTS, urn signals, ncluding tail light flashers, ront running light flashers and dash flashers, assenger rear license plate lights, ackup lights, ash emergency flasher switch and all related front and back exterior lights, ash flasher lights, nterior courtesy light, ap light, nterior trunk light, indshield wipers, nterior fan, orn, nterior door openers and locks, love box lock, xterior door openers, river exterior door lock, runk lock, nterior window winders, nterior side vent flanges, orward and back seat bottom adjustments, eat back adjustments, eat belts, aising and lowering seat back head supports and more. Even the cigarette lighter works!
I have had the compression checked by my mechanic and it is as follows:is Cylinder #1/160; Cylinder #2/153;Cylinder #3/154; and Cylinder #4/145.
The heating and the heated seats have not been tested. Currently the passenger door lock is not working.
The above is based on my personal observation, nd is not a professional inspection or warranty, or is it an exhaustive analysis of what is correct, r not correct for this year automobile. You can expect that some things may not work up to your mechanics standards, nd that he/she will most likely find additional work that he would like to do.
COSMETICS
But the best is yet to come! When you get a chance, ook down the sides of this MGB in some of the photographs that follow. In them you will see a car that is AS STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW. ALL shut lines, ncluding doors, runk and hood are as FROM THE FACTORY.
I can find no evidence of rust, ncluding the FACTORY ORIGINAL FLOORS, hich are in absolutely superb condition (see photographs below). The jack mounts are solid, he doglegs and wheelwells dry, nd everywhere I've looked, the evidence is the same.
The previous owner wrote that this car has benefited from new paint in the factory original color in 2013, s well as the new leather interior at that time. Of course, t has always been garaged while in his possession. It was entered in the 2013 and 2014 classic car shows in San Clemente, alifornia.
All chrome, ubber, nsignias, enses, ide strips and more are in excellent to as-new condition. There is a chip with a smaller crack, pprox. 2”, ow down in the passenger side windshield, hich does not obstruct vision. The air dam below the bumper is in good condition, ut not perfect.
THE INTERIOR is without damage and, n my opinion, ooks as good in person as it does in the photographs, ncluding VERY COMFORTABLE LEATHER SEATS and that classic solid wood steering wheel!
The trunk, s you will see, as been carpeted, atching the rest of the interior, very civilized thing to do! This car was purchased with no top, o you may want to have one installed if you plan on longer trips. I have located a CORRECT TOP FRAME, hich is included.
