You are bidding on a 1965 Shelby 289 FIA. This is not a kit car, rather one of approximately 45 cars built in 1999/2000.It is registered in the Shelby Registry S/N CSX-7023.They then released another 50 cars for the 50th Anniversary. These cars have a price tag of over $150,000.00. The unique thing about the early continuation cars is that Mr. Shelby was still alive.
This car is set up with a small block Ford 289/302 Holley 650 with vacuum advance. Manual 4 speed toploader and Salisbury rear end. Although the period correct webers and manifold are included. The tires are 225 60 15, 225 50 15 Avon CR6ZZ Street Legal DOT and are very correct for the period of the car. The exhaust was changed from side exit to rear exit, custom fabricated and all stainless. It sounds terrific. The car had 56 miles on it when I purchased it and now has a bit over 2,700. It is near perfect.
There are some paint chips in front of the rear fenders which does give it a nice vintage patina. Very rare Raydot Mirror (Not Reproduction). The car dynode at about 278 HP and is extremely fast given the weight of the car.
Also included but not installed are a Robbins Tonneau cover and defroster kit that are still in the box.
The VIN # is stamped on the radiator VIN plate under the hood and the plaque on the dash.
It is a blast to drive but I am moving on to a new endeavor.
The car was previously listed by my good friend and mechanic and did not previously meet reserve ($72,000.00). I am ready to sell it but not give it away.
Please Contact me with any questions and offers. I would love this car to go to the right person as it truly is a rare piece and again a thrill to drive. No excuses, No disappointments. Brian (912) 547-0148.
I have 80 photos of the car if you would like we can email them to you upon request.
