Up for grabs: My 2005 Forester XT. This car will crank and run BUT SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED DRIVABLE. PURCHASE WITH INTENT OF PARTING OR REPLACING ENGINE (AND POSSIBLY MORE…) This car was regularly driven by me for three years until July. While heading to the mountains in NC, I heard a noise that I thought was the turbo (which was replaced in Jan.) Suspecting the new turbo may have been faulty and being out of town, I pressed on knowing it would run but not accelerate like normal. Well, it wasn’t the turbo. Part of the catalytic converter collapsed/melted, occluding the heat and exhaust from exiting the muffler. Not knowing what was going on and driving another 500 miles, the backed up heat damaged the manifold, piston rings, the oil evacuated, and the new turbo is discolored, possibly ruined. I’m not very mechanical but that is how I understand it based on what my mechanic explained. The interior is in great shape, as well as the body of the vehicle. The wheels are off a 2007 L.L. Bean edition Forester. The air worked great. Big sun roof. No rust. Car is located in Montgomery, Al in my mechanics parking lot. I’d love to think this car (or parts of it) would be back on the road one day. If you think this is the project for you, go for it!
