First Tesla? Read this: If this is your first Tesla congrats!You'll want to know a few things about these cars. For one, there are a lot of cars listed without the tech package. On the early cars if you didn't get the tech package you got Google maps but no turn by turnnavigation, no HID headlights, often no daytime running lights, no power trunk, no memory seats/ mirrors and no auto-presenting door handles. The easiest way to pick out a tech package car is by thechrome on the lower rear bumper. If the lower rear bumper is all gray plastic (no chrome) the car does nothavethe techpackage. This car does indeedhave the tech package. The only other thing to note is battery sizes. For the early cars, the larger thebattery the faster the car. There were three sizes: 40kWh, 60, 85 and 85 Performance. Many people don't list battery sizes in their listings but theeasiest way to check this is to check the 8th digit of the VIN. On 2012s and 2013s a C means 40kWh, a G means 60 and an N means 85. Be weary of the 40's and 60s. They're great cars butsupercharging was not standard on either of them,they're slower, have less range and will be moredifficult to sellwhen that time comes.
Upgrades

• Continental Tire Pressure Monitoring System- My specific car had a chronic problem with it's tire pressure system. They replaced antennas, they replaced modules, they replaced sensors and looked at basically everything. The problem kept returning. This latest visit they decided to retrofit the Continental system from the newer cars. This is a paid upgrade but they did it under warranty because they couldn't fix the original. The good news is that the system now displays tire pressure on the instrument cluster. Thebetternews is that it works!
• Alcantera Headliner -This car was equipped with the textile headliner like most 2013's. Recently service had to replace a panoramic roof seal and gave me the car back with a seal that hadn't been properly replaced and a kinked headliner, presumably from them pulling it down? I'm not sure. It was an innocent enough mistake. They ended up replacing the headliner and all of the trim with the tan alcantera. It looks absolutely amazing.
• Door Handles - The original door handles have been upgraded with the newer, more reliable units. These also engage like more traditional door handles versus the original ones which had no give.
• HOV Access Stickers - These are included but not installed. I didn't want them on the car because they're ugly but they go with the car. If you're in California you'll be riding the HOV lanes same day.
• Lifetime Supercharging! - The 85's got this standard. It was optional on the 40s and 60s and most sellers don't tell you if their car includes it. This car can travel from coast to coast on Tesla's superchargernetwork absolutely free... for life.

The Good:

• Absolutely amazing condition. Clean interior, no real scratches or scuffs on the car aside for one area on the front bumper cover and then of course normal small rock chips on the front bumper cover.
• Most of the early VIN stuff has been taken care of. The AC compressor has been wrapped in an acoustic blanket, the pitting rearview mirror replaced, the old door handles replaced with the new style that have some give when you pull them, etc.
• Newer tires, just rotated
• New Cabin Air Filter
• New drive unit - Old one made some noise under constant throttle so it was replaced though it had not failed. The new unit is silent with the exception of some normal whining during acceleration. No real balloon noise.
• 5 keys. Yes, 5. I had a recurring issue with low battery warnings for the key fob and so twice they replaced the keys. The car now has three new keys programmed for it and 2 extra not programmed for it. Backups in case the first three get flushed down the toilet!
• New cargo cover in the trunk (the original's carpet was coming separated.
• Early VIN cars get a couple of goodies that later became optional. One that I can think of is the ambient lighting which my car has but that is now optional.
• 256miles on a full charge and230on 90%. This is considered to be very good. This car is charged on 110v and rarely supercharged. So it doesn't see the stress of high current charging on a regular basis. It has lost no range in the 10 months I've owned it. Actually it's gained 2 miles on it's 90% charge.

The Bad:

• I bought my wife an i3 and apparently it suffers from an inferiority complex because coming out of the driveway one day it kissed the Tesla's front bumper. There is no damage other than some scratching in a small area (pictured). It can be touched up but I have not done this. I do have a bottle of the Tesla touch up paint that goes with the car though.
• Normal curb rash, at least I think it's normal. The wheels clean up nice.
• Nothing - No really, no other bad to report.

This car includes a home charger with 240/ 110v adapters as well as a J1772 charger adapter.
