This Tacoma just passed California emissions days ago and has no 'trouble-codes' in the computer or other known defects.
Every customization listed, ncluding, uspension, ights, ires, heels, ender-flares, GM battery, lectrical control systems, ilms, tc, re new with 'zero miles' on them - meaning, ou are not purchasing a previous owner's customizations that were 'driven hard.' Moreover, he previous owner of this Tacoma was a diligent 'engineer type' who took great care of it, id not use it as a work-truck placing heavy loads in it or for off-roading, nd did no towing with it. Which is why Light Speed Motors chose to it as a candidate for enhancements. This vehicle has been operated using full synthetic oils and was very well cared for. I purchased a case of OEM Toyota transmission fluid from Toyota and had the transmission flushed using a professional flush-machine. The transmission fluid removed from the vehicle was in good condition with only light discoloration - indicating the transmission is in great condition, hich is consistent with the way it shifts properly. The cooling system was just flushed. The throttle-body was removed, nspected, nd found to be in exceptionally clean condition, hen reinstalled. Brake fluid is clean. New engine air filter. Engine oil and filter plus Mobile-1 full synthetic oil are new. The cabin heating/cooling air filter was just replaced with an OEM Toyota filter. Brakes are in very good condition. A/C is great. No rattles. Every component of this vehicle is fully functional and the vehicle drives wonderfully.
The fender-wells were custom molded to ensure tires do not rub (lock-to-lock). While modifying the fender-wells, e kept the fender-wells intact - meaning we did not merely cut open the wheel-well areas to make room for larger tires as is often done, nly later to have the fender-well cavities fill with mud and road debris. These fender-wells remain 'sealed' to the extent the unmodified factory fender-wells were.
FIT & FINISH OF TIRE/RIM PACKAGE: A perfect combination of custom (made in USA) fender-flares allowing for extended tire coverage beyond that of the stock, erfect wheel offset (tried 4 sets of wheels to get it correct), ehicle height modification, nd tire size, nsure tires are perfectly covered - i.e. not protruding out the side detracting from appearance, hrowing debris on top of your Tacoma, nd cracking the windshields of others.
New Bilstein 5100 series adjustable coil-overs and shocks (see pictures) provide the ultimate in valving to ensure very smooth on-road driving while firming-up when driving aggressively off-road. This choice for a suspension upgrade is important as overly stiff shocks detract from handling, ause rattles, nd cause driver fatigue. The front coil-overs have four levels of adjustment affecting ride-height. The current level of adjustment (as seen in pictures) is not adjusted to maximum height, nd can be adjusted upward add another 0.80 inches in the front. Is a buyer were to move the adjuster up to the highest position in the front, nd add a 1-inch block in the read, nother approximately inch of vehicle height can be attained. We adjusted the coil-overs to the minimum allowable level preventing tire-rub.
All four (4) new white OEM-Toyota door-handles/locks were purchased and installed replacing the original black door-handles. This, s opposed to poor quality door-handles from China at 1/8 the price, r attempting to paint the original door-handles which will eventually wear through.
The stainless-steel star-bolts on the custom fender-flares match the OEM Tacoma side badging without looking gaudy. These fender flares were chosen after installing multiple sets of flares which did not meet our 'quality control' standard. The extra expense of these customized flares was well worth the investment - as evidenced in the fit, inish, nd very secure attachment. These flares extend outward giving approximately 2.1 inches of tire coverage. These flares were custom molded to the fender-well on this particular vehicle to enable tire clearance (no rubbing) - something many shops accomplished by having useful portions of the flares cut-off as required using typical mass-produced flares with thinner material that cannot handle the temperatures during the custom molding process. These flares were color-matched to the vehicles body color using 'Glasurit' European technology paint, y prepping, pplying adhesive-promoter, rimer, ase coat, nd then clear coat.
The tires chosen are new MADE IN USA, 85/75 series, -rated, eneral Grabbers, hich filled the wheel-wells better than the same sized BFG-TKO's we tried. As a side-note, hese are the only tires a friend of mine uses on chase-trucks when off-road racing and on his chase-trucks.
Five (5) new tire pressure sensors were installed with the above listed new tires, nd a new sensor was installed in the spare tire, hen the sensors were successfully linked to the Tacoma's OEM tire pressure monitor system.
The front bull-bar, ear bumper, nd nerf-bars were color-matched to the OEM body paint by being custom powder coated (in the USA) - powder coating being far more durable than paint.
'Made In USA' protective film has been applied to all six (6) lights. The rear lights have Lamin-X 12-mil thick protective film with a slight tint (search the web for Lamin-x for more info). The new headlights and new running/'fog' lights also have clear protective film applied. This protective film nearly eliminates 'rock-chips,' greatly reduces the probability of larger road debris related impact cracks (as was the case with one OEM light I removed), nd eliminates yellowing from sun/UV related damage.
Headlights are projector-beam type (like BMW's) instead of chrome-reflector type. Projector-beam lights make a distinct horizontal 'cut-off line of light,' as to not blind oncoming drivers. Something important when upgrading to HID lights, s this Tacoma has received.
Headlights are HID on both low-beam and high-beam using ballasts from Japan (not China). All wiring connections to these lights were either made with OEM type waterproof plugs, r were hand-soldered and sealed with marine-grade heat-shrink tubing - eliminating the failure possibilities 'crimp-type' connectors typically used in these installations. Electrical-ballasts were installed between the front bumper and radiator area instead of the typical installation in the engine-compartment to reduce exposure to heat and increase operational-integrity. These ballasts are easily accessible in 2 minutes be removing the front grill.
The two low-beam and two high-beam projector lenses are surrounded with 'BMW type' HALO (high voltage gas-filled) circular lights. These HALO lights are energized through the Tacoma's OEM running-light switch circuit. This allows the HALO lighting to be energized separately from the headlights, r separately from the below listed four LED 'light-string.' This system is designed so the running-light switch can be left on at all times illuminating the HALO lights, nd the lights will automatically shut off when the ignition switch is turned off preventing a driver from leaving them on and draining the battery.
The row of four (4) LED 'day time running' lights (4 LED 'light string') located inside each headlight housings (see pictures), o the right and below the low-beam projector light (toward the outer side of the headlight lens - see picture) are wired to their own relay and switch, llowing them to be controlled separately from the 'gas-filled HALO light rings' and headlights. The switch is an illuminated (green) OEM type and is located in an existing (factory plugged) recessed Toyota switch location to the left of the steering wheel - it looks factory. The wiring system for these LED's utilizes a 40 amp relay to ensure the switch contacts do not experience full load thereby extending operating life of the system. Hand soldered and 'shrink-tube' sealed connections are used, nstead of 'crimp-type' connections which are prone to failure. This system is designed such that the LED operating switch can be left on at all times illuminating the 8 LED's, nd the lights will automatically shut off when the ignition switch is turned off preventing a driver from leaving them on and draining the battery.
The factory running/'fog' lights were replaced with custom higher output lights having clear lenses, ut black-chrome reflectors to match the headlights, s opposed to regular chrome reflector lights.
The dual 55-watt HID spot-lights mounted inside the bull-bar were disassembled so the front body portions could be color-matched to the Tacoma's body. This paint was baked-on before the lights were reassembled and installed. This system is energized by an illuminated OEM type switch located in an existing (factory plugged) recessed Toyota switch location to the left of the steering wheel. The switch looks factory, xcept for the fact that when the ignition is on, he text on the switch which reads "SPOT LIGHTS" illuminates green, nd when the switch is depressed, he pictogram of the two spot-lights located on the switch are illuminated blue. The dash mounted switch energizes a high quality marine-grade waterproof 40amp (over-killed for reliability) relay. Wiring from the relay to the lights is 10 gauge to ensure minimal resistance (over-killed for reliability). All connections are either waterproof OEM style, r hand-soldered and sealed with marine-grade shrink tubing - no typical 'crimp-type' connectors are used. This system is designed to automatically shut off when the ignition switch is turned off preventing a driver from leaving them on and draining the battery.
