Description

This pristine FJ62 Firetruck was imported from Japan, here it spent it's whole life living in a garage serving as the designated fire truck for an industrial area. She only has 7k miles on her, nd has regular oil and fluid changes since 1988.

Torfab is a Land Cruiser restoration shop (www.torfab.com), nd a customer bought this for his collection. We just finished his latest cruiser so this one has to go. When imported the fire pump had to be removed, nd some equipment had to be taken out, ut it still has the appearance of a fully functional fire truck.

It has the 3F 6-cylinder engine mated to an H55f 5-speed transmission. There's no power steering, owever with a truck this cool it's only right that you have to work to drive it. It gets waves and attention everywhere you go, nd it was even used for parades a couple times. This is by far one of the coolest Land Cruisers in North America.

Here are the high points

Built as standard JDM FJ62 in late 1988:

- RHD

- H55F 5-speed transmission w/ power take off (PTO)

- Fullfloating rear axle w/ 4.11 gearing

- Manual windows

- Manual steering

- Heat, o air conditioning

- Color was burnt orange

Truck immediately went to Morita Fire Pump Mfg. Co., td.to be converted into a small fire engine response vehicle and pumper truck. Some of the modifications:

- Removal of wagon body behind rear passenger doors

- Removal of roof cap above rain gutter

- Removal of fuel tank

- Installation of PTO centrifugal fire pump

- Installation of 110 volt inverter and governor

- Installation of oil cooling system (can radiator in engine compartment) and oil temperature gauge

- Fabrication of rear seat mount and access panels in rear floor to access pump

- Installation of new, aised roof cap to accommodate fire crew in rear seat (due to seat elevation and helmets)

- Installation of new fire body, enders, uel tank, unning boards, adder racks, quipment box, ump controls, istribution manifold and valves

- Addition of ballast between front frame rails to balance weight distribution

- Replacement of standard rims with custom Morita rims (steel spokers)

- Addition of siren, mergency lights, A system and related gear

The truck was sold as a functioning fire rig, uitable for a crew of seven, ncluding driver. It went to a new home as an on-site pumper/fast attack vehicle for an industrial firm. Medium and large firms (manufacturing, arehousing, hemical, etroleum, tc.) are required to have fire apparatus on site, long with cross-trained staff who can respond to fire and other emergencies at the facility, t neighboring facilities and elsewhere in the community on a collaborative basis.

For the next twenty-four years, he truck was garaged on site, vailable to respond to emergencies as needed. It was started and run according to operating and maintenance protocols, ncluding dealer-provided service. During the course of its career, he truck accumulated less than 5,000 miles through its weekly maintenance drives around the property.

The truck was auctioned off and purchased by a New Zealand auto broker. That dealer has purchased and imported many Japanese four-door mini-fire trucks over the years as they are quite popular in New Zealand - with both municipal fire brigades and with tradesmen who convert them into Utes for construction and service work. When exported/imported from Japan to New Zealand, he truck was subject to a thorough government review and the following:

- Replacement of road tires with new Dunlops

- Replacement of primary battery (equipped with second battery box as well)

- Tested for seeds, ests, ther contaminants, ncluding radiation

The current owner purchased and imported the vehicle in December, 012. Through the negotiation and closing of the transaction, he new owner came to appreciate the skills and capabilities of local craftsmen and undertook both mechanical and cosmetic upgrades that included:

- Removal of PTO pump, oses, adders, acks, xtinguishers, mergency lights, adios, iren, allast, tc.

- Construction of aluminum floor for boxed area under rear seat, reating a large, ealed and lockable storage area

- Removal of door glass, oor cards, loor mat, tc.

- Sanded and prepped body for respray in OEM color "Freeborn Red"

- Prepped and painted wheels in charcoal grey

- Reinstallation of pump and fire controls as tribute details

- Shortened rear step/side running boards

- Added diamond-plate hinged tailgate

- Converted ladder rack to accommodate cargo rack (included)

Upon arrival, he truck was assessed by Torfab and a Pioneer nav head was installed, long with back-up camera and 7" screen. The App Radio supports iPhone and Android devices and includes an interface that connects the unit to output signal to the bullhorn for a newly installed siren/PA system.

The vehicle has accumulated another 300 miles during current owner's care. It has performed parade duty at events in Seattle and is a favorite around its home town in Freeland, ashington (Whidbey Island). It lives on a farm but mostly just makes big smiles appear on kid's faces.

The truck starts every time, rives straight, uns cool and fast. It needs a new home where it can:

- Show off in parades

- Carry Santa and elves around at holidays

- Be transformed into an offroad expedition rig with:

> Aluminum utility tray (removing fire service body/fuel tank)

> Roof top tent

> Interior storage above passengers (using added headroom thanks to high top)

This truck is in showroom condition with original hoses in engine compartment. It even smells new.

You will not believe it when you see (and smell) it. ;)

*note - Truck is a 1988 but ebay rejected the assigned VIN from the importation process. I listed it as a 1980 on ebay otherwise they rejected it. The assigned VIN is 7ATOH60HX13096988 and the Toyota frame number is FJ62-096988
