Description

Here is a fully restored 1973 Fj40. Please look over all the pictures and do not hesitate to call or email me. Body is in great condition and has zero rust anywhere. Paint looks surprisingly well with very few flaws. The FJ has a 5. 0L small block Chevrolet with the stock 3 speed on the floor with the factory transfer case. The front and rear axles have been upgraded from a later model cruiser and feature factory front disc brakes. A newer model steering box has been installed as well. The FJ also has beefier old man emu springs and heavy duty shackles in the front and rear which offer a slight lift compared to stock. The stock front seats have tears in them and currently have covers in place. The interior and wheel wells have been coated with a heavy duty bedliner to prevent future rust from forming. New bolts and hardware all throughout the vehicle. The dash has been cleaned up for a sleeker look. only the headlight and wiper switch remain. The FJ starts right up and runs fine. but has been sitting for a while. I would suggest changing all fluids and going through the brake system before trying to drive it anywhere of distance. Spend a few dollars finishing up the final details (interior) on this one and flip it for quick money. or keep it for years to come. Here is a brief video overview of the vehicle!Video Click HereOn Mar-02-15 at 00:15:13 PST. seller added the following information:*****I have added some pictures of the frame and undercarriage of the Cruiser. as well as some night shots with the lights on. I also wanted to take a couple moments to clarify my description of the vehicle. The exact history of this FJ40 is unknown. but I will do my best to describe all that I am aware of. The V8 conversion was done years ago and the exact milage on the engine is unknown. I do know that the valve springs/oil (top half) appear to be clean and the compression numbers on all cylinders are good. The 5. 0 block casing number comes from the mid eighties and has obviously been well taken care of. It does not burn any oil and has no leaks. There is a quadrajet carb on there now that starts right up in the cold and idles perfect. I'm sure you could easily gain more power by changing out the carb. but the setup on there worked great for me. The drivability of the Cruiser as it sits will depend on the person who is buying it. I say that the fluids need to be changed because it seems to be making a little more road noise than it should at high speeds. Old oil could be causing more friction in either the transmission or transfer case which would add to the road noise. All the gears shift smoothly and the 4x4 works fine. Don't get me wrong. the FJ lot drives great and is ready to tackle any trail. The buyer should plan on towing it home if not just because there is no top and temperatures have been in the 20s here recently. The sheet metal on this cruiser was in great shape before it was taken down to bare metal and painted during the past couple of years. There was very little rust on the body partly due to the fact that the entire underside was coated in a rubber material some time after 1973. You could say this was a "frame on" restoration because removal of the body didn't seem necessary. All the original panels are on the Cruiser and there are no goops of Bondo hanging off the vehicle. I'd say that this FJ is in better shape than 98% of them on the road. This is a simple. reliable beast that was built to be driven and used.
