Description

I am selling my 1987 Toyota 4x4 Manual Van. I bought the van 18 months ago in Portland, OR and drove it back to the east coast from their. This is a west coast vehicle, it is 29 years old and has very little rust. The exterior could use some bondo and a paint job, or leave it looking dinged up, i liked that about it. I put back seats into the cargo area from another van after i bought it. These seats are quick-release and i can get them in and out of the van by myself in about 5 minutes. The interior of the van is rough, i never took the time to clean it up as i had anticipated gutting it out to make a camp rig out of it. Heres a list of whats good, whats bad and whats new:The Good/ New:-4 all terrain wheels less than a year old ($500)-new front and back brakes (need adjustment) ($200 in parts)-professionally rebuilt motor was put in 1,000 miles ago ($1200 rebuld)-fly wheel resurfaced ($60)-starter rebuilt ($80)-professionally rebuilt transmission ($800)-new clutch ($180)-new distributer and plugs-new high end battery-new battery terminals
The Bad:-1-1/2" crack in windshield-suspension is shot drives but is rough-power steering pump leaks and whines (i have a rebuild kit)-driver side window is finicky-their is an oil leaking, i haven't diagnosed, i'm hoping its from the oil pan, which i have a replacement for. -brakes need to be adjusted-alternator is going, I will probably have this rebuilt before the van sells.-no seat belts for rear 5 seats
When i bought the van i had low compression in one of the cylanders do to improperly seated ring. IT was burning a lot of oil, and running ragged. I bought a new motor, dropped it off at a rebuild shop then promptly lost 1st gear. So that led to me replacing the motor, clutch, flywheel, transmission, starter. it starts it great and has noticably more power than previously.
Feel free to email me with questions, These are rare vans, and even more so on the east coast. I am sad to see it go but i no longer have the time or space to keep tinkering on it.
What i'll miss:-turning radius and size (makes parking easy)-fits 6 passengers-true 4 wheel drive (amazing off road and in the winter)-fuel efficient (18-22 mpg)-fits a full sheet of plywood inside when seats are out ( i think i put 6 or 8 sheets in their once)-can be camped in-great for hauling stuff around (dirt bikes, antiques, etc)-endless number of creepy-van jokes
