Hello eBay'ers and Toyota fans-here is a rare survivor, known affectionately as "Snoopy"-it's a 1991 Toyota Corolla DX All-Trac wagon with all wheel drive and locking center differential. It has spent its entire life in New Mexico where road salt is not necessary and where the only ravages of nature to fear are the sun and heat baking your interior and bleaching your paint. Snoopy's paint is still pretty shiny, but the interior has been beaten up a little. Anyhow, when was the last time you saw one of these that wasn't wasting away to powder from corrosion in a junkyard somewhere or didn't have gaping cancer blisters from corrosion? This example, while not perfect, is perfectly fit to be a daily driver, or if you're looking for one of these rare gems from Toyota's history to restore, this would make a good candidate. It has just a couple of spots of surface rust from where some of the paint got damaged right in front of the left rear wheel. It also has a dent in the left rear quarter pane, rear bumper,l and in the rear hatch. Also, on the interior, the dash pad is pretty well cracked up from the New Mexico sunshine and the vinyl sides of the front seats are cracked and torn-photos of blemishes included. Mechanically it does produce a bit of a differential whining noise in the rear axle at about 70 mph that goes away at about 85 mph. At this point it is simply a nuisance. Also, the left front axle shaft or outer CV joint boot or joint needs to be replaced. The timing belt and a tune up were just done at 190,000 miles. All 4 tires are relatively new-with less than 5,000 miles on them. And this has always been well maintained. It is a daily driver for my partner right now, so mileage increases almost daily. It does well as a daily driver averaging about 30 mpg most of the time. It is very economical as a fill up costs about $22 and gets us further than 300 miles. The vehicle is offered as-is, where-is with no warranty expressed or implied and is a used vehicle that is 25 years old. The climate and road conditions in New Mexico can be very kind to older vehicles and this one has mostly highway mileage and it shows. It's a comfortable highway cruiser, but alas our growing family is a bit cramped. This is a perfect vehicle for snowy climates where you might want all wheel drive (the locking center differential works great) and don't want to destroy something more expensive. Or, as I said, is a great first car, or only car, and would make a great restoration project as it has virtually no corrosion and only a few spots of minor surface rust. I will work with the buyer on holding the car as long as needed for pickup if you want to fly in and drive it home. I will also pick the buyer up at the airport. I will also hold it as needed for a shipper to come retrieve it. But shipping costs are the buyer's responsibility.
