Description

This vehicle is a museum-quality. rotisserie. frame-off. hand built. nut and bolt restoration of a 1974 Factory Soft Top FJ40. This model year was distinct in that it featured new components that enhanced overall drivability. The most notable of these changes was the use of the F. 5 engine – an F engine with a 2F oiling system – only available for this model year. This was also the first full production year to offer the four-speed. fully synchronized transmission. a roll bar and smaller rear jump seats. For added safety and performance. this particular vehicle has been equipped with a front disc brake conversion. a new Webber carb. and custom header and exhaust. There are well over a thousand hours in this build. and that time has resulted in a great running. driving. and overall beautiful example of an FJ40. This restoration began with what’s known as a “survivor” – an incredibly complete. unmolested. rust-free specimen. The entire vehicle was disassembled and cataloged; all original components to the vehicle were meticulously refurbished. plus hardware and adornments were retained. cleaned. and yellow zinc plated. Where replacement was necessary. every effort was made to use NOS OEM Toyota parts and rebuild kits sourced from the local Toyota dealership or from other reputable Land Cruiser Specialists. No expense was spared and the attention to detail of this restoration is second to none. As the photos demonstrate. every decal. nut. and bolt is correct in its application. I have owned 16 FJ40s over the past twenty years. and worked on many more. This makes my seventh complete restoration. and with each comes more knowledge. ability. and efficiency. I am a one-man operation. and I have a passion for early Toyota FJ40s. Prior to doing restorations full-time. I was a mechanic in my fathers automotive repair business and performed restoration work on the side in my free time. I am a purist and a perfectionist when it comes to Land Cruiser rebuilds and I think my work reflects this. Here's your chance to get it now on eBay (and save yourself some buyer fees) before it hits a live auction block in California this summer.
