2003 VW Passat

Hello. thank you for looking at my listing. I have a 2003 VW passat that I bought for my wife last year. This is what I have done since we've had it:-New Plugs-2 Oil Changes (full synthetic)- New Timing Belt- Valve cover gasket- New water pump- New Belt Tensioners- 4 New tires- HID- New Air Filter- Front and rear BrakesA few weeks ago my wife was driving the car on the freeway and it started to overheat. she got off the freeway and saw the water reservoir was cracked. She got it towed home. I went in the next day to start it up to see what was wrong with it and the car started but it sounded weird like a ticking noise. There was not power when I went to rev the car. I called our local VW shop and the guy said it sounds like the valves are no good. He gave me a quote but the cost is too much for us. I am not sure if that is the issue with the car. i did not take it to the mechanic. it was only over the phone. Besides that the car has been running great we were getting anywhere from 19-22 mpg depending on where my wife was driving too. Please see below for what I got off of KBB. com.
