Listing this 2002 Volkswagen Beetle for my 73 year old aunt (so the sharks at the dealerships don't take advantage of her). Again. this is not my car however I have driven it. rode in it. and took all the photos of it. It is a 2002 beetle with only 95860 miles. for those of you keeping count that's an average of under 8000 miles per year! The car is in good to very good condition both on the exterior and inside. It is the most desirable color for these cars (yellow). and has black and yellow leather interior. Also it is equipped with the best gasoline engine option available. the 1. 8L turbo 4 cylinder with automatic trans. 2 owner car that she had purchased as a little grocery getter and toy to take to bingo and church. Always kept indoors and stored during winter. The car has been pampered under her ownership. and is only being sold as she no longer has space to keep it parked in the garage and doesn't want it sitting outside. Last fall the car was placed in storage at my Dads. and this spring when the car was going to be taken back to my aunts house it was noticed that there was a problem with the fuel pump. A brand new pump was ordered and installed and now the car starts right up and runs just as good as it did last fall. During the process of installing the fuel pump the battery was disconnected and for some reason now the check engine light and 2 others are illuminated. It is 100% my belief that this is a direct result of the battery being disconnected thus initiating a system "reset". When I took the photos for this listing I decided to drive the car down to auto zone and have them scan the car and make sure there weren't any major problems. Good news. no major problems or error codes. The scan revealed only a minor vacuum leak (could be a loose or disconnected vacuum line or one that may have cracked or has some dry rot somewhere) and misfire on cylinder 1. The tech said the misfire code could be a result of the battery getting disconnected somehow. and worse case scenario would be needing a new set of spark plugs or a new coil pack for cylinder 1. Under worse case scenario this can be fixed for under $100. Heck. you can replace all four plugs. all plug wires. and all coils for less than $250!!! But again. the car fires right up. runs. idles. and drives just great. Trans shifts smoothly. and the brakes and tires have plenty life left. I wouldn't hesitate to drive the car across the country. Clean body with normal wear from age and mileage and no rust that I had noticed. Would make a great car for high school or college student. 2nd vehicle to help save on gas consumption. car to drive back and fourth to work (keep miles down on your newer vehicle or lease). or a very affordable and dependable everyday driver. Sorry the car is dirty in the photos. it was just taken out of winter storage and hasn't had a bath yet. Feel free to email or call with any questions. 248-697-1346
