Description

Known Issues:

1.) ROUGH SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS. I have owned this vehicle for the past 10 years and this problem has never gotten better and never gotten worse. I have taken it to multiple mechanics who say that there is nothing wrong with my transmission.

MY FIX RECOMMENDATION: Since it hasn't got worse in the entire time I've owned it, think it is ok. If it hasn't shifted gears and your RPMs are around 3,000, hen mash down on the accelerator and it will shift smoothly above 4,500 RPMs …. otherwise it should smith relatively smoothly around 2,500 RPMs. It takes a little getting use to, hat's all.

2.) FRONT WINDSHIELD LEAKS DURING HEAVY RAINS. The front windshield was replaced after it was hit by a rock and the people who installed it didn't do a good job. I complained multiple times and they came out multiple times, ut still did not know what they were doing. I tried to take it to another place and they said they wouldn't repair another companies work.

MY FIX RECOMMENDATION: Replace the windshield.

3.) CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH IS GOING BAD. It's been going bad for years, ut still works. You just have to hold it down a little longer for it to catch.

MY FIX RECOMMENDATION: Just hold it down a little longer till it catches.

4.) AIR COMPRESSOR IS GOING BAD. It has been going bad for years, ut as long as you only run the air conditioner when you can sustain RPMs above 2,500, ike the highway then it works like a champ.

MY FIX RECOMMENDATION: ride with the windows down until you hit the highway and this compressor will last another 10 years!

5.) CAMPING FRONT SCREEN HAS SOME TEARS. I sewed it with regular string a few years ago, ut that is coming undone.

MY FIX RECOMMENDATION: I would resew it with fishing line. (This is what people online have recommended. If you want to replace it get the part at gowesty.com.

6.) BACK BENCH IS TRICKY TO PULL OUT. It is a loose cable that needs to be adjusted. Most mechanics adjust it for free, ut due to vibrations the cable quickly becomes loose again.

MY FIX RECOMMENDATION: When putting the bed down, rab the top of the seat and pull it towards you. This will lift it up slightly and you can pull the bed out with no problem.

7.) AWNING LATCHES STICK.

MY FIX RECOMMENDATION: I use a screwdriver that I keep in the van to unstick the latch.

8.) FUNICE HEAT FAN SQUEEKS UNTIL IT IS WAMED UP.

MY FIX RECOMMENDATION: It doesn't take long to warm up, ventually you will want to hit it with some WD-40.

9.) NO CAP FOR THE GREY WATER TANK. I like it better this way, ince you never have to dump your grey water.

MY FIX RECOMMENDATION: All original VW camping parts can be found at gowesty.com. The cap is about $35. However, would leave it as is.

10.) ODOMETER DOES NOT READ CORRECT MILEAGE: I had the instrument cluster replaced a few years ago and it was reset. There is a national database that keeps track of all this, nd this vehicle is listed in there. To get the correct milage of this vehicle, dd 123,376 to the current odometer reading.

11.) SLIDING DOOR HAS TROUBLE CLOSING IN EXTREMELY COLD WEATHER.

MY FIX RECOMMENDATION: The rubber seal around the sliding door will probably need to be replaced before next winter.

12.) DOME LIGHT DOESN'T WORK WHEN OPENING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. The door switch seems to be bad

MY FIX RECOMMENDATION: just cut the light on manually when you need it.

13.) REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER HAS NEVER WORKED.

MY FIX RECOMMENDATION: I have never needed, doubt if you will.

14.) MISSING HUB CAP: I have removed the remainning 3 hub caps from the vehicle, like it better without them. I will of course make sure all the hub caps that I have are with the vehicle when it is sold.

RECENT WV INSPECTION STICKER

THE ENGINE HAS NO LEAKS AND IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION

ALL WORK THAT I HAVE EVER DONE TO THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN DONE BY A VW DEALERSHIP. It was more expensive to do that, ut all parts are genuine VW parts.

ALL CAMPING PARTS ARE IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER.
