2002 VW Weekender EuroVan Westfalia with pop top and new factory engine!

Rare opportunity to own a classic pop-top VW van with modern conveniences and reliability. In terrific shape!

VW Weekender EuroVan Westfalia with pop top in great condition, oth mechanically and aesthetically! This van is in excellent running condition and has a BRAND NEW (not rebuilt) Volkswagen Engine from Germany in it that was professionally installed.

Brand new VW factory engine ($9,000) and nearly $9k worth of upkeep and repairs (NOT including regular and vigilant maintenance, il changes, tc.) mean that this van is ready to roll in town or on an epic adventure. VW stopped making these vans in 2003 so you won’t find many. Get it while the getting is good!

I purchased this 2002 VW Eurovan Westfalia Weekender in June 2012 from its one and only previous owner. I paid $18,000 for the van and it had 122,000+ miles on a brand new engine. It’s got 162,247k+ miles now. 40k miles on a Westy means that it’s just getting broken in! (Note: We do plan to use this van for MN road trips until it's sold so the mileage may increase a little bit!)

The van is a great car to drive and very fun, pacious and comfortable to camp and road trip in.

The van seats 7, ith a rear bench seat that folds down to sleep two and two rear-facing seats, ne with a cooler underneath that runs of a 12V battery that charges when the car is running. (The second rear-facing seat comes out easily for more space during longer trips. We set our YETI cooler there. IF THE PRICE GETS OVER $15,000, WILL INCLUDE THAT LIKE NEW YETI COOLER FOR THE LUCKY NEW OWNER!

The pop up table works great and is fun for coloring, ames or meals on a trip. Folds down and tucks away in to the wall when not in use.

Pop-top platform sleeps two. Can be removed to create more headroom if you’re a solo or couple and want to use the downstairs bed. Both beds are pretty comfy. We put mattress toppers/egg crates on each just to make it over the top cozy! The canvas top is in good condition. There are a few small holes that we’ve patched. (It came to us that way and we’ve camped extensively in mosquito’ey Minnesota with nary a nibble.) All zippers and screens work perfectly.

All original screens and curtains are still in good shape and come with the van, ncluding a screen for the back hatch so that you can keep it open and get an open-air camping feel.

Class 3 towing hitch can tow up to 3,500 pounds and was professional installed. It works great for the bike racks that attach to the hitch.

I would keep this van forever — especially after the loving care and investment I have made — but I have been inspired by the wonderful camping trips and great adventures my family has taken in our VW and am starting a small business (OhDarlingAdventures.com) renting campers and tear drop trailers and will be using the proceeds from the sales as additional start-up money for that venture. There is NO RESERVE on this vehicle.

A woman pulled out of a side street parking lot and into my door in October 2014. There was no frame damage and all of the repairs were done by Bonfe’s Auto in St. Paul. Those are detailed below. The way she hit me meant that the front passenger side and the van’s side door all needed to be replaced and painted to match. End result: it looks like brand new there and pretty much everywhere else too!

There are a few stains on the back of the headrests and the curtains. (I've had both thoroughly cleaned several times. It's not mold. It appears to be something like a rust stain.) The back hatch has a crack and a little rust. There’s also a very small paint chip on the driver’s side. You’ll see both in the photos. I’ve had an estimate done for both. You can purchase the back hatch through a VW salvage yard. Between purchase and paint, ou’ll spend about $1,200. For us, hat’s been an aesthetic repair that we didn’t deem necessary. I have a great auto body and salvage place and if you want me to take care of that before you get her on the road, can send you an estimate and we can work that out. I WILL NOT TAKE THAT OUT OF THE PURCHASE PRICE.

Regular safety inspections, ancy touchless car washes, egular detailing and oil changes (synthetic) have been done at the dealer along the way. I have a young family and I will not compromise on cleanliness or safety! This has been a non-smoking vehicle and doesn't have any funky smells. Before you pick it up, ’ll have a full detail done of the inside and out at my own expense to ensure it looks great inside and out.

It’s been a daily driver for me and I’ve put about 7k miles a year on it. The biggest additions to the mileage were a few epic road trips that we took as a family.

Here’s an overview of the history work that’s been done starting with the engine replacement in 2012.

January 2012: $9,020.72

New engine, tarter, park plugs, il/air/fuel filter, ater pump and all hoses.

July 2012: $1,301.52

I purchased the van for $18,000 with 122k+ miles. The air conditioning needed to be replaced and the gas cap had rust on it, hich bugged me so I had it replaced and painted to match.

February 2013: $831.80

Replaced switch and steering switch sensors. Bit of a flukey repair but one that you won’t need to do! Had VW do an all-over safety check.

May 2013: $556.35

Replaced tires at 136k+ miles and did VW multi-point safety inspection.

October 2013

Small accident with cosmetic damage to left side of the vehicle. No frame damage (or person damage! This was a low-speed crunch.) The front bumper, oor and side loading door were damaged and were sourced and replaced, ncluding painting and clear coat.

March 2014: $852.66

Replaced inner and outer tie rod assembly and ball joints. Replaced battery. Suspension and alignment.

July 2014: $2,987.13

Big set of repairs to prep for a long road trip, ncluding a completely new exhaust, ir meter, ccelerator, all sensor and accompanying motor and latch. Fixed broken cup holders and chair arms that has FAS (floppy arm syndrome!). Replaced a few broken/missing curtain clips. Replaced air filters, ront turn signal bulb sockets and bulbs, ull exhaust/muffler and clamps. Full safety check.

October 2014: $739.78

New water pump, ulley, oolant.

March 2015: $569.00

Installed Class 3 trailer hitch

June 2015: $1,610.36

Replaced rear brakes, park plugs, orn and electrical shorting issues with door wiring harness, hich controls the locks on the doors.
