Description

I bought this 2004 Jetta GLS TDI 5-speed car brand new in August of 2004. I put on all 320,000+ miles. It has been maintained, ith all records of repair and maintenance available . I get about 50 mpg in the summer and about 44 mpg in the winter. Electric windows and door locks (all work). Has leather, eated seats.

The Good: It is in very good overall condition. The only rust is a bit of surface rust as shown in the pictures, nder the rear license plate. Has newer brakes and tires. Installed a new VW carpet a few years ago, nd it is still very nice. All options, ncluding moon roof, re in working order. The engine splash shield was destroyed by hittine ice chunks, tc., o I took it off.I have the full 3-piece aftermarket set which will go with the car (still in boxes).

The Bad: It started to run with less power, specially in gears 1 and 2. I took it to a mechanic, ho said it is in the top of the engine; without taking it apart, e feels it is a valve or possibly needs a new camshaft. A new VW camshaft with bearings is about $1500 for the parts. The turbo also has a slight leak, o probably should be replaced. Not sure of cost for that. It is missing a plastic cosmetic piece at bottom front where jacking spot is. Also missing one hubcap. There are a few hail dings on very end of trunk (had it in garage, ut stuck out a few inches--see pic). Has a tiny star crack in windshield from a stone, ut not too noticeable.

The rest of the story: The car is driveable, ven at freeway speeds. I don't think I'd take it cross country as it is, ut I drove it on the freeway today at 70mph with no problem; power loss seems at low speeds,or when asking for more power. Everything else works as it should. For someone who knows these cars, t is a pretty good deal.
