1971 VW Bus/Vanagon with pop-top

She has a 100% "new" 1641 cc motor with bells and whistles, lus a dual quiet pack. The motor was built by Strictly Foreign in Oregon. It has an additional 1.5qt oil pump, 00 cam Mahle pistons and cylinders, 009 Bosch coil and Weber 2 brl. carb. The engine was new 12 years ago, but she hasn't been driven much since then. For 12 years, 've driven her around town a few times, cross the country once, p and down the coast 4-5 times, nd on 4 long trips in the last 12 years. Otherwise, she sat and rested. I think I must have put under 10K miles on the motor. She purrs along at 55-60 mph happily, nd gets over the mountains (slowly, ut she does it!). She has great tires on her, oo.
She was recently checked over and given a good bill of health (minus her age...:-)). I had her tuned up and replaced fuel line. She runs smooth. No smoke. She's a California girl....Her name is "Ruby."
She does have some isolated rust spots (and I can send pictures, f you want). They are places where the original paint cracked, nd around the base of the windshield. Not big spots and nothing structural. Give her a new paint job, nd she'll be beautiful! I don't know about the electrical input, ince I've never used it, ut all the lights work. There is an ice box, ut no sink. Radio could be replaced. The front seats could be recovered. Some of the original interior paneling could be replaced. Pop-top canvas also needs replacing. My son did the blue/yellow upholstering, ut underneath, here is the original yellow vinyl. I have the vinyl cover for the back cushion. There is also the original vinyl flooring under the carpets. She could be a great restoration project, r just a fun bus for summer camping and festivals. I don't know how many miles she actually has on her, ut the odomoter reads 21317. When I bought her in 2004 (and the engine was brand new), he odometer was 12467. Her VIN # is 2312229982.
I love this girl, ut I'm moving east and it's time for her to go to her new home.
