Description

“This is one of the 23 Original "Herbie" movie cars. this particular Herbie is #16. e was built to float for his scenes in the 1980 Disney movie "Herbie Goes Bananas". he is an incredible and rare piece of movie history. Disney built two Herbies to float for the movie and the other car was sadly destroyed. making #16 even more rare. No. he "does not" float. but he was rebuilt to be drivable after being discovered in a wrecking yard in California after being auctioned when filming the movie in 1980. The car will come with a binder full of the cars history. bill of sale and some photos that have never been seen by the public(even photos of the car underwater !!!). #16 is ready to drive anywhere. he has a new engine. currently registered in Texas as an "Antique Vehicle" and has a clear Texas title in my name !!! He will also come with some original body parts and very rare Disney made pieces. his glove box door is signed by Dean Jones of Herbie fame as well as Joaquin Garay III. It is a blast to see everyones reaction and all by a small remote control !!!On Mar-01-15 at 20:59:08 PST. seller added the following information: I have been asked several questions about Herbie #16 so please read this carefully. This car was auctioned after the movie "Herbie Goes Bananas" was finished. it was sold at auction with a" bill of sale". no actual" title" was given to the auction winner as it was sold as a parts car due to not having a engine. transmission or front end. these items were removed to help the car float and fake fiberglass wheels were added for filming . when this Herbie was located in a wrecking yard years later. it was purchased thru a trade of another car. and still had no" title". the previous owner before me was unable to salvage the original floorpan due to damage from filming. it was replaced with a different floorpan that he had purchased to attain a clear" title" in his name. this floorpan and parts were not in a useable condition(in my opinion) for the car to be roadworthy and driven any lengthy distances. so when I purchased Herbie #16. I replaced the floorpan with a very nice one that had the passenger floorpan replaced. all new front end parts including brakes. new trans mounts. and a properly shifting transmission. this floorpan was purchased by myself and a clear "title" was issued in my name in the State of Texas. So please be clear. it does not have a Disney issued title and the floorpan is "not" the screen used one. it now has a really nice roadworthy pan that can be driven anywhere. Herbie #16 was in very bad shape when he was located in a wrecking yard and had to have several of his body parts replaced also. his hood. rear fenders both doors and rear engine cover were replaced due to damage. one original rear fender even has a bullet hole through it. and I do have all of the screen used body parts that go with the sale of the car. they are darn cool as they still have traces of the original stripes and you can make out where the "53's" were on the doors and foam still stuck to these parts that helped him float in the movie. also the original grey screen used sunroof cover still has a lot of the stripes on it. if you have any question about Herbie #16 please contact me and we can talk about any concerns you may have. Thanks
