1974 Volkswagen Thing Base 1.6L

Sadly I no longer have time or space for this project. so Im listing it in case there is another who is interested in completing it. I am able and willing to transport (tow) these to you if you are within a reasonable distance from me. however you will cover my time. all gas. and tolls for the trip. (payment must be made prior to transport)Included with this auction is a 1973 Thing that is for parts only. I bought it because I needed a the rear body panel to fix the back of the Blue one. And it'd give me a spare transmission and a ton of other body parts that I could use. If you need I can provide pictures of the White 'Parts Only' Thing. I have 90% of what is needed to get the car back on the road. I simply dont have time to do the work. What I know is still needed: - Floor pans (I was going to replace the floorpans. but you 'may' be able to get away with patching them. )- Rear lights- A new set of tires- The cloth top and windows if you dont want it to be a summer only car. - Rear Seat pads and lower rear seat cushion-I have lights which you could use. but if you wanted to 'restore' the car then you will need to obtain the OEM lights. Mostly what it needs is work on the body to get it looking better. I wasn't planing on doing a 'showroom' restore. I was going to leave the minor dings and dents as I felt they added personality. But I was going to be patching all the rusted spots and probably swapping the rear clip entirely (since I felt it'd be eaiser than patching a bunch of little holes)Even after patching what is needed. you'd have a ton of spare good body parts from the White Thing as backups if you were ever involved in a minor collision. Parts included that are not attached to either car. - All 4 doors off the 73 White Thing (rusted but useful for patching steel since its has the same ribbing type shape)- A 1300cc Single Port Flat 4. (ran when pulled from a Ghia)- A 1600cc Single Port Flat 4. (ran when pulled. several things have been removed like the carb)- A 1700cc Dual Port Flat 4. (ran when pulled. needs a new doghouse cover)- Super Beetle Black Leather Seats that I was going to use for the front (These are in excellent shape)- The 1600cc motor has german made 'bug heat' style heat exchangers already mounted. - 2" Ball Hitch Tow Bar for Air Cooled VWs- A Pair of Front Fiberglass Fenders- A single spare rear fiberglass fender (I forget which side off the top of my head)- Gas tank out of the blue Thing (has been removed but I have it)- Exhaust piping and muffler- Spare clutch and pressure plate- Frames for two front seats (very rusted. but good enough for exchange at some aircooled retailers for core charge)- Frame for the cloth top (I dont have the top itself)- Front 'Safari Type' bumper/bar- Whatever air cooled odds and ends I have lying around like an old steering wheel. hubcap. etc. Delivery/Pickup Information. You are more than willing to pick these up. however if you would like I may be willing to deliver depending on where you are in relation to where I live. We can discuss how much it will cost me to deliver them to you. Deposit and Delivery Payment must be made BEFORE I will attempt to deliver the cars to you. If you do not pay the full amount via accepted methods and do not have the remaining amount in cash when I arrive. I will turn around and drive home and you will NOT receive your deposit or delivery fee back.
