VW 15 Window Deluxe Microbus For Sale @ Oldbug. com 1974 VW 15 Window Deluxe Microbus For Sa;e This green machine is a very interesting Bus that is a very strong runner and driver and remains very stock and original from end to end. The body is overall quite straight and sound. It has its share of dings and scratches. it is no show car. but it still has a pleasing look to it and could be enjoyed just as it is. or would be a fantastic basis to restore to perfection. It has had one outside respray in the original green color. The Bus is a 1974 production model from the VW factory in Brazil. but as you can see it has the appearance of the 1963 German model. This is all stock and just as it was built and is from end to end a factory VW machine. Volkswagen has had production facilities all aroud the world to keep up with demand. As you research this stuff in detail you will see that German production was just a part of the bigger picture. Factories in Australia. Mexico. Brazil and others were producing big numbers of VWs. Volkswagen even has a factory here in America that builds a lot of vehicles for the "local" marketplace. This Bus overall appears quite solid. There are some signs of rust repair in the past and in the passenger side front wheel house there is a little rust behind the wheel. Underneath it all looks quite sound. Rocker panels show some hints of minor repair but are not caked with body filler or anything nasty. Frame rails are solid and jacking points look good. You can see signs that sections of the cargo floor have been replaced. but the replacement was done with the proper pressing steel panels. The underside of the engine is a bit dirty. but it is not a "leaker". Here in this photo you can see the repair to the floor a little more clearly. basically the edge on each side has been replaced. Front end suspension looks quite clean. shock absorbers look recent. Tires are brand new radial whitewalls on all four corners with less than 100 miles on them. Pop out side windows. The interior is all original in the van and it shows some age. but is not offensive. The center sections of the panels have been re-dyed as they were a bit sun burnt from age. Drivers side seat bottom has been recovered. but the rest of the seats look to be all original. Seat stand and under seat area all looks very solid. Dashboard is in great shape. possibly the original paint that may polish up a bit . Radio hole is covered by a stock block off plate. Locking steering column/ignition switch is functional and original VW keys make it all go. All stock. The Bus is a very fun driver. runs smooth. clutch and steering are all as they should be. It is mechanically a great little driver. Under the mat shot Drivers side rocker panel Nice looking old Bus! Stock height. never lowered or modified. The 15 window body style is fantastic and the visions out at the world are like nothing else in the world of VWs. Just love it! Note that the California plate is NOT included in the sale. There is a clear California title for the vehicle. The van has the 1500cc engine. which is correct and original for the model. !2 volt electrics. recent battery. It has the unique dusty conditions air cleaner set-up that is original. Engine room looks quite clean in here. Very good runner and driver. Being a van that was originally in a warm climate. it has no provisions for a heater. Nice and clean! The interior as explained earlier is all original and still retains the factory materials. There is some age to the headliner and interior panels. as well as the seats. but it is all still intact and very usable as is. Headliner has held up very well. Gotta love all those windows!! All the interior panels are intact and present. One small poke hole in the headliner over the back seat on the passenger side. but the rest is all tight and solid. The original seats are here and seat belts have been installed at all seating positions. Under the mat shot in the back. Divider wall panels are all here including the ashtray and the proper armrests on the long panel. Very usable as is. or re-do it all the way you like it. The glass in the van by the way is all the original VW stuff. including the front windshields! Being a deluxe model. it has the chrome emblem and aluminum body trim. Headlights are the bulb type Euro style units with fluted glass lenses. Windshield glass is original and the area below the glass looks amazingly solid and rust free. Nice straight nose! There are a couple of small paint blisters right above the seam behind the bumper. but these are very small and could easily be dealt with. The doors all open and close nice and have good gaps. Tires are brand new. Bumpers are nice and straight. In closing this is really a good Bus inside and out. The early 15 window body style like this is highly prized and Ive seen basket case German examples sell for nearly the asking price of this van. and restored ones sell for well over double the asking price! This is a great value for someone that wants the classic VW Bus and doesn't want to spend massive money. It is a very good runner and driver and will make a great play toy for someone just as it is. or take it and turn it into the show stopper. Its all up to you!
