The TDI engine is impressive, ith lots of mid-range torque, nd it’s well-matched to the six-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission, hich downshifts on demand but likes to upshift early. The manual mode, owever, rovides fast and satisfying shifts and lets the driver choose forward progress over fuel economy.

The TDI costs $23,765 with a manual transmission, 185 more than the outgoing model, o all that business about cheaper Jettas doesn’t apply to the loaded diesel model. The example we drove, itted with DSG but without the navigation package, ame in at $24,865, ardly a bargain. Unless you’re a mileage junkie or just love the TDI powertrain, e can’t really think of a solid case for the diesel, specially since a similarly equipped Jetta SE with the 2.5-liter five-cylinder costs $22,665. It would be an awful lot of miles before your savings at the pump made up that price difference. And, nlike the previous Jetta TDI, here’s not enough goodness in this new car to make it feel worth its premium.

I've owned German Car's for years. They are strong, urable and get great mpg. Well it is a true fact that the older German cars are easier to maintain and less cost compared to the new ones. Back in the 90's to own one of these fine German cars you either have to be rich, ld, r a drug dealer if you were my age back in the day. This VW needs nothing for inspection runs and drives great (will go anywhere).
