1975 Super Beetle with a 1974 Karmann Ghia engine. The vehicle runs and drives very well, very reliably. I use it nearly every day.
I've owned the car since February and have completed a number of overdue tasks. The biggest repair was all new brakes, including new drums on the front of the car. The engine has also been tuned up correctly. New: Carburetor, plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor button, points, ignition coil. Also the valves have been set and the oil bath air cleaner has been thoroughly cleaned. The rubber gasket between the body of the car and the engine tin has also been replaced. The car now runs much cooler than before and performance in 90+ degree heat doesn't seem to be an issue. In the bit of cold weather I experience in it, the heat kept me warm enough and the defrost did clear the windshield.
The transmission shifts smoothly and isn't noisy. The odometer has stopped turning but the speedo is still working accurately.
The interior, as best as I can tell, is the original and is pretty worn. It has no bearing obviously on the mechanical condition of the car... As for the paint, it's an older paint job that has chipped in places, most notably along the top of the hood and around the headlights. The car originally had a sunroof and this has been eliminated. The headliner was replaced as well and is in pretty excellent condition. Also, it doesn't seem to have any leaks. It's been through some pretty nasty rainstorms and I always come out dry.
The floor pans, heater boxes, and usual rust areas seem to be rust free. The car is solid all the way through.
The main issue keeping this car from being a problem-free machine is the front struts. They do need replaced to correct the "Super Beetle wobble." It rattles between 45-50mph. Any more or less speed and it's a manageable issue. I'm told this is a simple issue to fix with the right tools.
Overall, this car is perfect for in-town driving on a daily basis. It gets good mileage; I guess 30mpg+. I can go around town for days on just $5 of regular gas. I would be glad to send more pictures if requested.
If you are located within 100 miles of the car, I am willing to drive it to you; otherwise, the purchaser would be responsible for delivery
