1998 VW Jetta TDI
Selling my daily driver because it won't pass emissions where I'm moving. This car still runs great and fun to drive. I wouldn't describe the car fast, but it is fun to drive with the new turbo, injectors, and the chip. I am the third owner. The last own and I have taken good care of this car. He had owned three tdis when I bought this one from him in 2012.
In the last two years I replaced:
New radio/CD/MP3/AUXthe turboboost gaugeInjectors (stage 1)Chipped (stage 1)Cleaned the intake manifoldStarterbatteryFront wheel bearingsTiming belt and water pump at 350,000New front seat. (NOT perfect. I made the old seat pan fix a captain seat off a mercury villager)I change the oil regularly (easy to do compared to new TDIs)
A/C and heat work great.
Previous owner:
He put the rims on.Lifted the back end.Put on a straight exhaust. (sounds good, can really hear the turbo)repainted the car black and tinted windows. Its a good looking car from 10 feet.
What it needs:
The fuel injector is leaking some fuel.Could use an alignment.Paint on the front bumper is flaking off, luckily the color of the bumper is black!Driver side headlight is cracked, still works. The trim fell off on the right side, I still have it and it comes with the car.The car has rust spots. See pics.
The speedometer quit working a over a year ago. I have no idea how many miles I have put on this. I'm guessing around 380,000 miles. This also means that the cruse control is not working.
With all that said this car runs great and gets me to where I need to go every time. Wouldn't hesitate to take this car on a long road trip or daily driver with an mpg around 38! The TDI is truly an amazing power plant.
I reserve the right to sell car locally.
