Hello, we're selling our 2008 VW GTI. It would make a great student car or commuter / runabout! This is a MKV GTI, with the independent rear suspension.
The car is a white four door hatch, and the interior is black with plaid seats. It has air conditioning, automatic temperature control, and power up and down windows. There's rear seat heat ducts and a/c ducts. It has cruise, a trip computer, and tells you the outside temperature and the fuel range.
The seats are manual, but adjust for front to back, up and down, recline, and back support. The rear seats fold down, and you can get an upright bass in there - the cargo capacity is amazing. The steering wheel tilts and extends.
The radio is the factory unit, and holds up to 6 CDs with either regular or MP3 music on them. All 4 factory cloth floor mats are included, and a Weathertech rubberized cargo mat for the back.
The headlights are self-leveling, and it has daytime running lights. It has fog lights too. It has stability and traction control, and 1 year old Cooper Zeon RS3A all season sport tires on the factory 17 inch rims. The car has tire pressure monitoring.
The motor is a 2.0 FSI turbo four. No oil consumption, and we always changed the oil with Mobile European formula 0-40 weight synthetic and a Bosch filter. Because we don't go anywhere, we usually changed the oil after 1500 miles - whenever we hit 4 months. We changed coolant and brake fluid early this year, and the mechanic put new pads on.
The automatic is a 6 speed DSG. It was a big switch for me to get an automatic, but my wife demanded it. The DSG is truly the best of both worlds - it shifts for you, but feels like you're solidly in gear like a manual. It has paddles on the steering wheel if you want to shift it yourself, and three modes - drive, sport, and manual. All modes work, and it shifts smoothly. It seems to always be in the right gear - really nice automatic.
Problems - two of the rims have a small bit of curb rash, and there are two dime size surface rust bubble areas on the driver's side - one above the front wheel on the fender, and one by the back wheel on the rear quarter panel. No problems otherwise - it's reliable and has never given us any trouble.
It is unmodified. No big rims, no big stereo, no big turbo or reprogrammed computer. We did take the GTI and TURBO badges off, as the local small town police are aggressive, and we didn't want to look like a hot hatch. The badges come with, and I can put them back on for you on request. All the trunk stuff is there - tow hook, full size spare, factory jack and tool kit.
Terms - $500 to hold the car within 2 days, and cash or cashier's check for the rest on pickup. I'll help with shipping on request, but we must discuss before the close of the auction. Inspections and test drives are fine before the auction concludes. If you are located outside the lower 48 USA, you must talk with me first about your plan to pay for the car and pick up or ship.
The miles may go up a little, as I'll drive it to work one or two days this week. Thanks for looking, and happy bidding! Be sure to send in any questions or requests for photos, a test drive, etc.
