1953 Deluxe Swedish Beetle for sale
Older restoration and starting to show some of it's age. I'm guessing the car was restored in the 90's at some point but have no paperwork to support this.
Produced April 8th, 1953
Vin 1-0466298
Body and pan are matching numbers
25hp engine is 1-0487351 and is dated October 1952
I have the birth certificate from VW and unfortunately it does not confirm this is the original engine.
Motor:
Very good running 25hp motor and mostly correct. If you wanted a complete period correct and dated motor a few minor things would need to be changed.
But for now it runs great as is!
Transmission:
I have not checked the transmission date codes but it shifts nice and smooth through all four gears and reverse. 1st gear non syncro is smooth when engaging at dead stop.
Wheels/tires/brakes:
Tires have good tread left but have some slight age cracks. Could use to be replaced at some point.
Brakes work great and stops nicely without pulling.
Interior:
Older restoration and has all correct front and rear seats. Original style cloth door panels, headliner, and seat upholstery. Correct push button 53 only starter switch works great. Wrong ignition switch as this is a later style.
Correctly dated 1953 Ebershpacher gas heater. Have not checked to see if this works but looks in great shape.
Body:
Pretty solid car with no noticeable rust or body damage present.
Has some rust bubbling on paint at bottom of doors.
Appears to have all correct fenders, hood, decklid, doors.
Semiphores work as they should with correct turn signal switch.
Original key works drivers door but has later key for incorrect ignition switch.
Headlights are a later euro date coded glass.
Correct German front and rear bumpers.
Newer 6volt battery and charging system works as it should.
All glass is original Duroglas and is likely all original to the car but can't verify this. Windshield has bubbling that gives it a weird look and I left it as is and had no intention of replacing it.
Birth Certificate shows these options:
M042 tires under costums seal
M067 77 ah battery 6 volt
M068 cannot be identified
Country of destination: Scania-Vabis, Soedertaelje, Sweden
Car comes with a bunch of old registration paperwork from Sweden dating back to the 1970's.
