Three owners since new. Originally purchased in Colorado. Current owner purchased the car in 2001 from the second owner here in California with approximately 116,250 miles and has put less than 13,000 miles on it in 15 years as it was a love-hobby second car.
Original engine and transmission to the best of our knowledge and according to the records we have. Runs strong and straight and tight, no rattles or clanks.
Original radio present but not hooked up. Kenwood CD player with remote installed in glove box with extra storage compartment.
Cross seatbelts added to the front seats, and lap belts to rear.
Previous repaint in original L41 Schwarz (black) still shiny but imperfections are visible close up. No rust, no accidents.
Interior has been redone with top quality OEM and /or reproduction parts. Same on mechanical side.
Recent (end of June, 2016) $1800+ tune up and replacement parts (receipt included) including new: carburetor, generator, battery, fuel pump, spark plugs and wires, brakes including wheel cylinders, seals, shoes and hoses. Gas tank was cleaned and fuel lines replaced. Transmission serviced. Transmission pops out of first periodically, and grinds going in so probably needs a syncro. Presently the flashers and the windshield washer are not working, everything else works as it should. Also, the glove box door sticks in the closed position, needs adjustment.
Original manuals and a stack of maintenance records going back to 1972.
More pictures available on request.
Good solid car as is and easy and cheap to bring back to original cherry. Mid-Sixties Beetles are going to be the next major price jump in VW collecting.
Three keys, some spare parts and the iconic "How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive" repair manual included.
Car is for sale locally and the right is reserved to end the auction early.
