Description |
---|
Nice driving vintage VW with original ragtop. Original 6 volt still.
This was the last year for this type of sunroof and the same year as "Herbie".
Lots of patina, seems to have had an older "refresh" at some point as there are small amateur patches to the various areas of pan mostly ahead of the battery.
The battery area is the only area that could really use a patch now - very typical of all vintage bugs.
Engine runs strong (if you can say that about any bug) especially good at our altitude of 7000 feet - so when you take it to sea level it should theoretically run even stronger.
Roof has no tears and does not leak.
Original headliner is intact - a bit sunburned under the rear window.
Seats have newer covers on them in correct color.
Original radio.
Most everything works - a headlight bulb is out. Fuel gauge and speedo work.
New tires.
Original spare under hood.
Motor looks proper and should be original to car but no way to tell since VIN and engine numbers don't relate in bugs - the engine number range for 1963 seems correct.
Body looks straight and with the exception of some flaky paint and spots of surface rust that just add to the patina.
Very fun to drive, buzzes along, and gets lots of smiles and questions. You can enjoy and drive this car now or take it to the next level and restore.
See my excellent feedback. Ask questions. All sales final - no buyers remorse, please be serious and have funds ready.
I can deal with your shipper or help arrange it, I can help arrange shipping to a port if overseas.
If you are buying this for a son or daughter for college or whatever, please remember that these are old and archaic driving cars.An enthusiast should buy this car or someone like me who grew up with these. I learned to drive in a bug.Not safe by todays standards, standard transmission, questionable heat, no air conditioning, carbs, small lights, and 6 volt.
If you send me your email I can send a video of it running / driving. Try toencrypt it such as " joe at geeeeeemale d0t c0m"
