Description

Here's a nice opportunity at a reasonable price to own a VW Beetle project with some great potential. Up for your bidding pleasure is my 1979 VW Beetle Convertible. Purchased from the original owner in August of 2013 after storage in a barn in Pennsylvania. The car was trailered to my home in NJ. where I undertook a major cleaning of car's exterior and interior. When I bought it. I didn't realize the car's color was lemon yellow since it was so dirty. but after a washing. compounding. waxing and polishing the color came back and I was very pleased. the dash is in great shape. Since I have owned the car it has been stored in my garage. I have removed the gas tank and drained it of the old gas. The tank is still out of the car and new hoses will be needed. I removed both bumpers which I have. both have surface rust. I drained the old engine oil. removed the spark plugs and filled the engine with Mystery Oil to lubricate. I have not tried to move the engine and at this point do not know what it would take to make free. Honestly. I haven't gotten to that point in the restoration. The old convertible canvas top was in such bad shape that I removed it. the frame is all there and still attached. I removed and threw out the driver's side running board. the passenger side is still in place. I was happy to see both heater channels in solid and in good shape with just surface rust. I have purchased and installed new front turn signals and bulbs and have new sun visors and wipers and wiper arms that are not installed. I kept all the original parts removed. except as I mentioned the running board and the canvas top. My true intention was to do the restoration on this car and bring it back to life. I go to the annual NJ. VW car show in Flanders and have that VW envy every time. always wanting one of these fun cars. and so I was happy to get this one. so it will be sad to see it go. But I have more work and money that needs to be spent on my TR6 and P1800. and if I keep the VW it might be a couple more years before I can get this going again. However I won't just give it away. so if the reserve is not met. the car will be safely stored in my garage and I might just tinker with it some more. If you are local and want to inspect the car please let me know and we will make arrangements. The car does look like it was repainted at some point. so I can't say the exterior paint is original. but inside looks like it hasn't been touched. The car will need floorboards as there is a large hole on the driver's side. I would recommend doing both sides. I have a good and honest reputation with eBay and intend on keeping that way. so please. if you have any questions. ask them now. And good luck bidding. There is a reserve. that will not be revealed. that is less than what I paid for the car and I think is fair. Clear Title in my name. Deposit or full payment by bank check. when the check clears. the car is yours! Please note. no one is coming to my house for this transaction with cash and negotiating the sale. Thanks!
