In 1987. while visiting a friend in Grass Valley. CA. I found this car in one of the barns on his apple orchard. He said he was the 3rd owner having bought the car to restore but never got around to it. He said the same fate had befallen the 2nd owner who bought the car to restore for his wife but it turned out she had no interest in driving a stick. The first owner. an architect. had commuted in the car between his home in Sacramento and his job in San Francisco. Maintenance and repair were not high on his priority list as at the time he gave it up. there were more things wrong with the car than right. But the body was near perfect and all the parts seemed to be there. Before leaving CA. I bought the car. That was the easy part. Two years later. my friend called me to say that unless I came and got the car. he would resell it. I flew to CA and drove the car back to Ohio. Thus began my 10 year odyssey to restore this car attempting to keep it as original as possible. All mechanical work was done by Nick’s Foreign Auto in Cincinnati. OH.
