Description

This Volvo has been my daily driver for the past three years. It didn't have to go far though because I worked less than three miles from where I was living. I am a big guy, '2", 90 lbs, nd I fit comfortably in this car. My wife bought a new vehicle two weeks ago and I inherited her car which is much newer than the Volvo. Now I am offering it for sale. The vehicle is located in the Bloomington/Normal area, hich is 2.5 hours north of St. Louis and 2.5 hours south of Chicago. I have a clear title. The only form of payment I will accept is cash. We can do the transaction at either the DMV parking lot in Bloomington or at a busy parking like (like Wal-Mart). This is for both of our protection.
This vehicle was purchased in September of 2012 from a small dealership in Chicago called Howard "L" auto sales (for $2,977). At the time the vehicle was a one owner car that had spent it's whole life in the Schaumburg area. I looked at the Carfax report and saw that the previous owner had meticulously maintained the car and had almost exclusivelyservicedthe car at Patrick Volvo. It has NEVER not started! Even when the temperature hit -40 degrees a couple winters ago. It has never been stuck in the snow either! I was able to drive the car in eight inches of snow with no problem. It has some type of traction control which helps a great deal. The driver and passenger power seats still work, ll four power windows still work, he power sunroof still works, he headlights, ail lights, urn signals, ront and back windshield wipers all still work. The turbo still works, he car is actually quite fast but I don't push it much since it's older.
A week after I bought it, noticed that the odometer wasn't working. Typical sleazy dealer in Chicago, hey probably turned it off in case it sat on the lot for a while. The good news was that the car had just been traded into the dealer less than a month prior. I calculated that maybe it had been driven 500 miles and maybe even 1,000 before I took possession of it. I kept track of how many miles I put on it and it has 103,000 miles on it right now. Five weeks after I bought it, omeone backed their vehicle into the passenger door (while I was in it!). I reported it to the police even though there was very little damage. Insurance paid out and I pocketed the money and my father-in-law and I banged out the dents as best we could. A year and a half later someone side swiped the driver's side one night and this did much more damage. It ripped off the side paneling and put a nasty dent on the rear driver door.
I never took the vehicle more than about 20 miles on a trip until a few months ago when we moved from Chicago to Bloomington. The car made the trip no problem! The engine is strong and should get at least another 100,000 miles. Before that trip, attempted to replace the calipers with anacquaintancethat does a lot of work on cars in his garage. The calipers were so badly rusted that we couldn't get them off without a blowtorch. We ended up just replacing the pads. The front grill fell off around the same time and I secured it with three black zip ties. All the tires have very little tread on them but are not bald yet either. All the fluids are full and do not leak. They will all need replacing though. The suspension is not that good and you can hear some noise on the driver side. The oil was changed every 3-4 months and the last time it was changed was in April and it has been driven less than 500 miles since then.
I realize the car is not in good condition and that is why I am starting the bidding at $500.
Good luck and please contact me within 24 hours of winning the auction to make arrangements to take possession of the car.
