Solid, aliforniaRUST-FREE 1996 VOLVO 850 series Sport sedan.This is an original 850R, rare two-year-only model made available by VOLVO after an extremely successful campaign in the BTCC and other European racing circuits starting in 1994. The R was only available in 96' and 1997.

Color-coded indesirable Guards-Red factory finish with tan Alcantara leather and Swedish Maple trim, inished with the factory R body package,Titanium-finish VOLAN wheels, arger four-wheel slotted cross-drilled brake rotors, at swaybars, rontal strut tower brace and more.

Alwaysa California 850 R since sold new at Smythe-European VOLVO in San Jose, A in 1996. Always owned by the same family ( a Real Estate agent here in the bay area who had always owned it. His daughter drove it for about 7 years until she married and moved away, hen it had just pretty much sat in the garage save for the occasional drive).

I have NO story to tell. I purchased it from the realtor with the intent of slowly restoring it while I drove it around. As luck would have it, found an 850R wagon that was already done ( of course for significantly more money); thus this R needs to find a new home. I have listed it merely for what I initially paid for the car ( which was a very fair deal), ithout taking into the account all the new tires, ear struts, e-upholstering of the front seats, enter console, he crossbar, attery and many other things I have done to the car.

This R hasresided in Northern California all of its life since until now. Of course, t is 100% rust-free as expected.

Completely stock, nd all original850R.Heavier-duty R springs, waybars, ross-drilled slotted disc brakes. IPD strut tower front brace for added handling ability. NEW KUMHO radial tires ( fronts have 20 miles, ears less than 200), ounted on the unique VOLAN alloy wheels. One was replaced with a factory original.

194K original miles on its powerful 2.3 engine with 16T turbocharged unit. Top end completely redone in 2012. Newer battery. All-new tires as previously mentioned; water pump, ear BOGE struts; will need new struts in front.

NEVER altered, ropped, aced or abused. It has resided in Northern California its entire life since new, nd it's where it currently resides.

Stock 2.3L engine runs GREAT. No overheating issues and it runs very well. 194K original miles, elatively low for any VOLVO ( 850s are notorious for hitting 300K miles before major work is needed). No alterations or deviations from its original stock condition. Automatic transmission shifts fine into all gears. Four-wheel Power disc brakes,Power steering, ower windows ( all four work) andPower seats (theyboth work).Head-gasket job already done, he usual need on any VOLVO 850.

This is astraight example of aClassic 850R that lookssharp despite its vintage. The coachwork is in remarkable condition, ith no dents, cratches or any kind of damage, ther than the small dent visible on the left front fender ( it had been there for a long time before I purchased the car. I've had an estimate by DentPro Mobile services to remove it for $200).

Never in any reported accidents, recks or repaints.Unfortunately, he hood clearcoat has deteriorated from the sun and willrequire to be refinished ( I also obtained an estimate to have it professionally resprayed for $750, hich would also cover any other small visible blemishes, s I had planned to keep the car until I found my R wagon).

As a true West Coastvehicle, t is completely 100%rust-free as expected, nd solidthroughout.Its original Guards Red factory finish still shines very nicely and it is in very good condition considering its age. All doors, anels, ood and trunk line up perfect.

NO RUST OR CORROSION area anywhere on the car, ommon on many Volvos specially East Coast examples where the elements and salted roads have taken their toll !

The original, airly rare tanAlcantara-leather upholstery is in better-than-average condition and has held up very well.Front bucket uppers have been reupholstered following the traditional 850R pattern, s pictured. Also the parking brake handle and the center console pad ( as mentioned before, had not intention of selling my 850R, ut after purchasing the R wagon, cannot justify two cars). The headliner is firm and well attached in all areas.Very clean interior, oor panels, actory carpetingandtrunk area. NON SMOKER vehicle. No smells nor stains.

This850R hasa clear California title and it is currently registered through 2015. FREE current AUTOCHECK report available upon request. It has a superstrong 2.3L engine, riginal clean bodywork andnice, lean original interior.It will make avery rare, ool R with some minimal cosmetic attention.

Overall, solid original California VOLVO R andmore importantly, t is completely RUST FREE. I had searched for a factory 850R in original Red finish for a long time, nd had no intention of selling it, ntil I found an R Estate that has already had everything already done to it as far as upgrades were concerned.
