Description

Up for auction is my 1993 Volvo 240 Classic. It is number 1212 out of 1600 produced and still wears its original rims. The odometer reads 86,000 original miles. I have a clean Carfax for this vehicle. This is the last year of production for the 240 and what some consider the best iteration of the platform. I will try to be as explicit as I can regarding the cars condition. Mechanically and structurally the car is very sound. It rides and drives quite well for a 23 year old car. Car is equipped with power windows, locks, cruise and AC. The cruise control will begin to engage but falls off and quits working almost like it's losing vacuum (these cruise units have a vacuum operated mechanism under the steering column), heat works fine, blower motor works however the AC does not work. Intermittently the ABS light does come on at times and I have not investigated the cause of this. There is also a "bulb failure" light that illuminates and this may be due to the power wire running from one tail light to the other (I did not do this). Cosmetically the paint looks okay but it is far from the nicest paint job, as you will see in the pictures. In spots the clear coat is coming off, there is over-spray here and there, but nothing too horrible. Please see the pictures in the slide show below for photos of the underside, trunk area and drivers floor under the carpet. As for the interior this 240 is very typical of a 240, lots of the plastic parts such as the door pull cups are degrading and cracking. If you purchase the car I have some trim items that go with it such as the B pillar seat belt cover pieces and glove box door. The seats are in very good shape and don’t have any rips or tears, but could use a good cleaning. The headliner and carpet are also in pretty decent shape. The rear trim between the body and bumper was in rough shape so it was removed. However, I have a good one to go with the car, along with a passenger rear side molding that runs along the rear quarter panel. Aside from the less than desirable paint job, this is probably one of the most rust free and solid 240’s you will run across. If there are specific pictures you would like or questions you have, feel free to ask.
