Description

1965 Volvo 122S
Familiar or not with this car, its a car to appreciate.Mechanically uncomplicated these cars are known for their longevity. This car found inBakersfieldCalifornia was shipped here to LI NY in 2010. With theintentionto do a simple total stock restore the car was torn down. In the restore of the body we found the typical dings and dents and were quick to make theadjustmentsandrepairsusing the metal in place with little plastic. paint isenamel, 4 coats. Stock color to the car. Floor pans were solid, very small amount of surface rust on the passenger floor which cleaned up very easily. I epoxy coated the floors as seen in the pic. the list of work redone is extensive, like all restorations out of love the hours were countless. I can tell you the total ofreceiptsto do this care is over 23K and with good reason.First the motor was rebuilt by Vintage Performance Developments, aspecialtyVolvo HIPO shop here in NY. The motor has lots of power to move this car forward. The specs are described under the 'Street performance with the type 2 head' description at the web site for 'Vintage Performance Developments . com' I cannot attach a link per eBay instructions. I opted to keep the stock carbs and had them professionally rebuilt by a real pro using the 'K' needles forprogressivefuel mix. I also opted for the header from IPD. I also opted for the T-9 5 speed and let me tell you it is a huge improvement over the stock trans. This car was an automatic car, with that came the 3:90 rear ratio, it really helps when cruising down the highway. You can go 70MPH at 3000 RPM. Other work done was the driveshaft was balanced, new clutch andaccessories. New brakes with a new dualcircuitmaster in place of the old single circuit. Rear brakes are all new, front brakes are rebuilt and work perfectly. All suspension parts were disassembled, painted and fitted with new bushings ofneoprene. new limiting straps were added too. This car from the factory has the progressive springs, desired for the performance packages like in the 123GT. Electrically this car has a brand new from Sweden wiring harness. This harness is a directreplacementand fit like a glove, perfectly with all connections provided. The generator was replaced using a Bosch 40 amp alternator. Old switches were replaced, bulbs are all new. Horn replaced with higher pitch euro style horns. Custom work includes the dash, this is a sectioned P1800 dash morphed onto a stock 122S dash. The radio was shifted, the hand grab was deleted and the gauge cluster tossed in favor of using these gorgeous Auto Meter Ultra light gauges. They all work perfectly. Sending units are electronic and all are new even the fuel unit.Interior is semi custom with buckets from Skat and the rear seatreupholsteredto match the front. center console is not finished but would take little work to complete. new head liner, power windows by Balls, window tint done nicely. Things the car needs to complete, center console completion, rear dash completed and rear quarter window seals. other wise its a nice car, reliable, quick and fun to driveeverywhere. Its a looker for sure and gets tons of inquiries and compliments. Feel free to ask questions. Thanks and enjoy the ride my friends. Bone
