This is my 2001 Volvo V70 XC AWD 2.4L 5cyl Turbo Wagon. This car was my daily driver for about 6 years. During that time all maintinence was done by a Volvo Master Mechanic. All repairs were done as needed and the oil was changed every 3000 miles. It always starts and the motor runs fantastic. Last fall I was getting ready to sell it and get a newer one when I noticed a little lag in the transmission when taking off from stop lights. I took it to my mechanic (Volvo Master Mechanic who left Volvo to work on his own) and he ran a test on it. The test results indicated that it needed a reset of the transmission software. Something that can only be done at the dealership. I made an appointment and drove the car in for a software reset. While it was there, I had all of the cars software updated and reinstalled because it wasn't much more ($220 total). After picking up my car, I drove off with the car running great and shifting smoothly. That lasted about 3 miles. Then the car started shifting horribly and would hardly go (all transmission, NOT motor). I limped it back to the dealership and asked them what they did to my car. They said they would reinstall all of the software but it looked like it was going to need a new transmission. After the reinstall, it was the same. After the car warmed up the transmission would have issues. Even though it didn't have these issues prior to the dealership, they denied all reponsibilty. So there I was, stuck with a car with a bad tranny. I decided to put it in to storage and look for a new transmission. I kind of forgot about it and months passed. I am now losing my storage so it's time for this car to head on down the road. Maybe someone can fix it or use it for parts. Engine is in great shape, the body is in good shape with a few small dents and dings here and there. It has a lot of new parts on it including a new throttle body with less than 50 miles on it, It also has new coils that are less than a year old. I always kept up on it because it was my daily driver. It tackled the snow in Indiana and never got stuck, even when it was higher than the doors. Interior is in decent shape though it could use a good cleaning. The drivers seat has some stiching that came out at the seams. All the rest is good. all of the power windows and locks work as well. Will hate to see it go. Buyer in charge of shipping this. With the transmission issues, it will need towed and as it is AWD, it will need a flatbed trailer. A tow dolly will not work.
