1974 BMW R90/6I've owned this bike for almost two years. It's a beautiful numbers matching airhead in awesome original condition with just the right amount of patina. I've replaced/repaired what was needed. She starts right up. runs and handles like a dream. This airhead is my pride and joy. No expense was spared in maintaining this fine machine and it pains me to see her go. As you BMW aficionados know. 1974 was the first year for the R90 series and this bike is one of the finest examples of the breed. The clock states 31. 44 miles. nbsp;however I can't 100% guarantee it's accuracy as it suffered from the odometer failure common to this model year. It stopped working around the 30. 00 mark but immediately did the standard fix with a dab of epoxy holding the odometer gears in place and it has been working well ever since. I can say if the mileage is off it's not by much. Mileage may increase a little as I get in my last few rides. Cosmetically it's a stunning bike. The Monza Blue paint is all original with the exception of the battery side covers. This 90/6 has the smaller 4. 3 gallon "toaster" style sport tank. which I prefer. maintaining the stunning lines of the bike. Paint is beautiful with some light scratches here and there and light fading around the gas cap. nbsp;adding to her wonderful character and originality. The side covers were cracked and chipped so I replaced them with original BMW parts and had them painted to match. also replacing the 900cc stickers with original BMW ones. The front fender has some small chips & scratches. and some minor cracks around the mounting holes. I've reinforced them with JB weld on the backside to prevent any further degradation. Also notice there are a couple of small holes drilled in both sides of the frame gussets by the head tube (see VIN pic). where the previous owner mounted air horns. I removed the horns and filled the holes with epoxy. Hardly noticeable with no structural issue. The rear fender again has some chips and scratches but mostly under the seat area common to a 41 year old bike. The chrome and aluminum wheels are shiny and bright with some very light wear & scratches. Mufflers have some light blemishes and a couple of small dings with no rust or rot. Seat was replaced with the correct original style cover and new OEM chrome strips / hardware. Seat pan was repainted along with some light touch-ups on the frame where needed. She oozes beautiful vintage BMW. I've tried to detail as much as possible in the pictures and video. please look at them closely. It comes with the original tool kit. tool pan air pump and a correct reproduction owners manual (all not shown in the pictures). echanically she's in fantastic shape. With carbs choked and a touch of the button it starts right up and idles smoothly. If you prefer you can use the kick start. 1974 being the last year for this standard feature. All electrics work properly. runs smooth. brakes. handles and shifts as she should. Motor is tight with great power and no leaks. Installed brand new Yuasa battery. new Metzeler Lasertec tires and new $400 IKON shocks - a wonderful addition to a smoother. better handling ride. I have spared no expense. All proper maintenance has been performed. she just needs someone to ride and enjoy! All in all a very solid and lovely machine.
