Description

Up for bid is a 1994 BMW K-Series. 750 cc. RTA (Road Touring ABS) motorcycle. I have only ridden this bike about a thousand miles in the last four years and I feel it needs a new home. I’m the original owner with the original tools and manual. It has a BMW windscreen with adjustable “wings” (see note). a Russell seat. BMW touring bags and BMW “City Trunk” BMW engine protection bars and after market engine heat shields. (Original BMW side covers included). The odometer part of the speedometer stopped working at ~40. 00 about a year ago. but tach and speedo work. I had planned to take the odometer apart to see I could repair it myself. but in the meantime I just kept a journal of my rides to keep up with maintenance. With regards to maintenance. I did oil and filter changes and dealer did other things that I was not equipped for. I kept a journal on this matter. Maintenance free battery installed 10/16/10. In the interest of full disclosure. there is a situation best described as a small growling noise coming from the engine/trans area at about 1700-1750 rpm. Before and after this point the bike is turbine smooth with very little vibrations. This issue has been with the bike since day one. I complained to the dealer about this and he asked the factory rep to look at it. They decided that it was a harmonics issue. that all the parts were within tolerance. but as the mass rotates there is a point where there is this slight “harmonics” issue. Because the parts are all within factory tolerance. the rep said there was nothing they (BMW) would do about it. That I just needed to start off at a higher rpm. that it was not a Harley where you can start off at an idle. So. I just rev or blip the throttel and slip the clutch a little to get past that point and I have practiced doing this ever since. There are no noises or vibration issues once under way. The RS fairing edge and bottom of mirror and bag have minor cosmetic damage after a zero-speed drop in ’95. I had just used some BMW touch-up paint on these scratches. Extras included: K&G Engineering full size fabric bike cover. flexible cable with lock. (4) sets of front brake pads. (1) set rear brake pads. NIB fuel filter. NIB air filter. Hayes K-100 & 75 “Owners Workshop Manual”. unopened tube of Honda “Moly Paste”. (spline lube) unopened BMW #10 lube paste. new H4 headlight bulb and a BMW automatic battery charger. Note. The hinges have failed recently. I made a temp repair hoping to find replacement hinges at a marine store. They have still not been replaced. Buyer responsible for vehicle pick-up or shipping.
