1985 BMW R80G/S, 9,000 miles, lpine White This G/S has been maintained in as close to original condition as possible, nly the coil and ignition cables are not original. It has NOT been restored but has been cleaned up, ouched up and mechanically gone over. It looks like the basic model you would have seen at a dealer in the 80s, eady for the next owner to add whatever enhancements to fit his/her needs.As far as I know all paint is original except the rear part of the front fender (repainted with a close match). Aluminum parts were cleaned, ot to look new, ut to retain some patina. Exhaust system is solid, as ceramic coated a few years ago and shows some minor surface rust. Tank decals,side panel decalsand seat cover were replaced with accurate reproductions. Mechanical work includes cylinder and head resealing, iming chain and tensioner replaced, arb o-rings, ets, prings, askets and floats replaced, ll cables replaced, rips, hrottle tube and gears replaced, eft control switch replaced, ork boots replaced, teering head bearings checked, ubed and adjusted. Finally all filters and fluids were changed, ncluding brake fluid and fork oil. The battery was replaced August 2014. The speedometer was rebuilt due to a non-functioning odometer. Mileage was reset to reflect true mileage after consulting with the previous owner. I have receipts totaling $1000 forparts replaced. Some defects remain: The front fender has a crack near the mount, t has been repaired and braced but the crack is visible on close inspection. There is a small tank dent 12 in. on top front right side, ome marks where the seat contacts the back of the tank, s well as a few minor imperfections in the paint on side covers. Two chips in paint on rear fender and some scratches on wheel rims from tire changes were left as is. Side stand is missing the original bumper stop but another stop was added that functions well. Not included: owner’s manual, uggage and racks (may be available at a later time). Included: factory tool kit, white handguards (not mounted), and pump, olding key and standard key for ignition and fork lock (does not fit seat lock). The bike has been ridden around 1000 miles since the work was done, hen heads torqued, alves checked and carbs synched.
