1976 Maico AW 250

Up for auction is a 1976 Maico AW 250 engine #M3212716 frame# 3261922 I picked this up 7yrs ago and finally got around to restore it to almost race ready condition but it still needs a few minor things done.Due to my job I just dont have the time to complete it. I originally bought this to restore and race but I am a little over weight and this is just not big enough.The engine has been completely redone Bearings (crank)seals piston & rings were put in it in 2009 and was never started until a few months ago. This was taken down to bare frame and started on I dont powder coat so it was rattle can'ed. Here is a list of all NEW items: Renthal Chain air box to carb boot Metzeler tires & tubes front & rear PVL ignition Mikuni Carb 36mm seat cover grips handelbars Magura controls throttle cable clutch cable kickstarter shaft piston & rings bearings & seals Twin Air filter gas lines tank graphics & gaskets. The fenders are DC Plastics which was on it when i got it. The exhaust pipe is in near mint condition and is the original. I put new back grounds on the number plates. This starts on the second kick and runs great shifts fine thru the gears although the clutch seems like it is slipping a little when wound out so i will include some steel & fiber plates with it for you to play with or you can buy new plates and install yourself. The shocks are the originals they have just been taken apart cleaned up and repainted so they will need to be rebuilt or replaced with a shock of your choice. The engine is perfect with no chips cracks breaks or repairs the left case half at the rear engine mount is a little thin but is ok. As you can see in the pics this has the 1975 Hella gas tank which has the original paint and FIM sticker. It also has newer gold Akront shoulderless rims. The primary chain is good but if you are going to race it I would replace it. This would make the perfect top of the line project with 98% of everything done to make it an easy race ready machine.As with anything used this is being sold AS ISWHERE IS. There is NO Warranty and comes with a BILL OF SALE. You are bidding on a 39 year old motorcycle & although I have done my best to replace anything that I thought was bad it is still 39 yrs old and things can still fail.I will be more then happy to work with your shipper or it can be picked up here for free.I can also deliver to Mid Ohio in July free of charge as long as bike is paid for in full.
