1966 Bultaco Mercurio 200 4 speed This motorcycle was found in a very complete original condition. Since all the original parts were there and bike was solid. it was a perfect candidate for a complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration. which is what I did. Frame and engine numbers match. Bultaco numbers go by Model number. Production of this model was very limited. while there are a great number of 155 and 175 Mercurios out there. the 200 is virtually impossible to find. This improved version of the Mercury has additional HP (20) a higher compression ratio 10. 5 : 1. nbsp;and a larger carburetor that the other smaller Mercurios. The bike had been stored inside for years. while age effects were present especially in rubber parts and some plastics. Obviously original paint fade. some aluminum oxidation. but no corrosion and. very little light rust on some steel parts. The tank is solid. and the fenders. chain guard. tool box. side covers. frame and other steel excellent. So the original parts are all there. The engine was rebuilt from the bottom up. new parts where needed. including connecting rod. piston and ring. all seals and bearings. all mechanicals work like new. New clutch and other wear parts where replaced. Electrics set. engine timed and ready like new. All originally chromed parts were freshly re-chromed. handlebars. levers. headlight ear covers. headlight ring etc. The frame. swing arm. upper fork covers. headlight bucket. fork clamps. tail light bracket. center stand and brake pedal were all powder coated. Fenders. tank. chain guards. side covers all painted and striped to match the original Bultaco colors. This model originally came in red and blue only. and this bike had parts. such as under the tank and fenders. and some other places where the paint fading was not present. and therefore could be matched. The exhaust had to be replaced with NOS Pipe and muffler from Spain. The seat had to be recovered correctly along with the leather anti slip strip as well. The bike also required a new chain and control cables. The original Akront wheels were cleaned. polished. relaced with new stainless spokes. All the other aluminum parts were polished as well. so the bike has the finish of new. The paint scheme is original since the bike was original and could be matched exactly. Mercurio 200 brochures. and other media can be found which authenticate this. Most of the original Bultaco hardware. nuts and bolts. saved and plated. although some had to be replaced with new. New rubber parts. Bultaco NOS. all new wiring. A new old stock Leonelli switch for lights. horn and kill. The speedo works as it should and show the actual miles on the bike. Front and rear brakes are good. and work like the drum brakes of the 60’s. The many pictures show the appearance and condition of the bike.
