1946 Cushman Scooter

1946 Cushman two speed scooter. Beautiful early post war survivor. I am the 4th owner and have most of the history and some early photos before it was restored. It was purchased 'restored' It looked great. but needed some mechanical work to bring it up to my standards. A completely rebuilt motor was purchased - from gas tank to clutch. (including a museum quality generator). This was installed with the intention of getting the original restored. A 2nd transmission was rebuilt by Carpenter Restorations and installed. The rear wheel was rebuilt by Carpenter with new linings. axle. bearings. etc. The front wheel was gone thru (by Carpenter) also and although the tires were like new I had a new tire and tube installed - along with a polished stainless rim. New bushings. king pin. and rocker bushings were installed in the front end. The scooter had no brake lights! So Harley Davidson bullet lights were installed with a Panhead era brake switch to make for safer driving. It is running on a gel cel battery and the scooter comes with a battery tender. I prefer 12 volt lights. if you don't there are two generators and all the bracketry to swap it back to 6 volt. I have a lot of manuals. old photos. ads. cool old parts catalogs that I saw on Fleabay. It should go without saying. but it starts and runs like a champ. The trans has straight cut gears so once you learn how to shift it. it is easy. The trans drips from the side plate. not from the seals - so I left it as Carpenter probably would want more of my valuable loot! It is a good. dependable everyday or weekend rider. As for spares. The original motor runs good. comes complete from clutch to gas tank. has an original carb and air cleaner. Both have the newer disc clutches. Spare transmission. lots of small parts and some stuff I removed because it was original. It also has a perfect chrome twin rail wrap a round bumper that was removed because I don't like the look. Nothing gets shipped until the money clears - but let's not talk about money because it only cheapens the item!
