This is a rare limited edition Ducati production race bike that very rarely comes up for sale. I have only seen 3 in Australia for sale in the last 13 years. I won't repeat what the history and model detail is as this has already been well documented as you will already know what this is. The engine number is 086 217 DM 860. 1 and the ". 1 " indicates it is a Ducati race shop assembled engine. The frame number is 075582 and is virtually identical to the 1974 750SS as also is the rest of the bike. I have owned the bike since March 1997 and can show ownership back to the owner whose name is listed with this bike in Robert Miller's 900SS register. This register lists 56 of the original 246 built. so I suspect racing took its toll on the number of original machines now surviving. On purchase the speedo showed 43. 69 Kms and receipts show that Ian Gowanloch rebuilt the engine in 1993 when 41. 00 were on the clock. I put a little over 120Kms on it and it ran beautifully. It was given a roadworthy ( which I still have ) by one of our centres for road use but I decided to store it for when I had more time. I had the brakes converted to DOT 5. the tank and carbs drained and fresh oil installed. Every 3-4 months it was cleaned and kicked over until the clutch freed up. The seat was recovered some time ago and some of the chrome was re-done. Rubbers have been replaced as required the most recent being the fork seals. I have resisted re-plating any zinc parts for obvious reasons. There is a bit of surface rust which I have tried to show in photographs. Some might call it patina but I don't and the next owner can make that call. The tank isn't lined for modern fuels. The bike is sold as is. Should any specific photo be required contact me through "Mactriple" on the Laverdaforum as e-bay won't allow my listing one here. Any questions welcome.
