1966 Harley Davidson XLCH Sportster
This is a XLCH Sportster from 1966 that is very hard to find in original condition. Ithas not been altered except for a 16 inch rear wheel. The paint is original and still retains a bright shine. The front fender does not have any dents, r scratches. The tank also is dent free but does have some paint imperfections that i show in the pictures. The inside of the tankwill need a little cleaning. The rear fender has a dent but it is not visible with the seat on, o scratches. My plan was to repaint a set of original tins and keep the ones on the bike the way they are. The seat is like new, n aftermarket seat was used through the years to save the stock one. The wiring has not been tampered with. It is routed the correct way and has the proper connectors. The various screws and bolts have not been butchered, hey look untouched. It has the front end dampener that is correct for this year. Also for 66 two seperate gauges in seperate housings with a trip mileage resetter that works. All cables apear original and are mounted with original hardware. You can tell the oil lines were never removed by the type of clamps that were used. All the chrome is in very good condition including the exhaust. The bike was recently run about a month ago. The magneto was rebuilt along with the tillotson carb. The valves and the primary chain were adjusted. Points, lugs, ondenser and coil are new. The engine retard and advance works and aids starting. The ignition works on and off by the key and can the bike also can be shut off by the handlebar kill switch.
The only reason i was able to buy this bike is because the original owner passed away. The bike has a transferable registration signed by the person in charge of the estate. It also has a letter from the court confirming this. In 1966 titles were not issued and myself as the second owner never registered it .
If you look at the pictures carefully you can see this motorcycle was not abused. Sportsters from this time period are getting very hard to find. It will only increase in value as time goes on. I want to get down to owning only one bike, hat is the reason for this sale. I will answer any questions you have. Thanks.
