Mickey Mantle

1999 Harley Davidson Softail Tribute Motorcycle

Mickey Mantle was one of the best baseball players to ever step on a ball field. He passed in 1995. His son, avid Mantle, ad this amazing motorcycle custom built as an touching tribute to his dad. Starting absolutely from scratch, n 1996, avid began building what was to become an extraordinary Harley Davidson motorcycle. Three years and $50K+ later, n 1999, sing only genuine Harley components, he end result of David Mantle's monumental effort was one of the mostextraordinary motorcycles in existence, loving tribute to his father. From a complete custom design, he theme of the bike is pure Americana: baseball, om and apple pie. In David's words, Justwhat my Dad would have wanted." With a 1940-50s style complete with beach bar handlebars, hat otherwise isn't gleaming chrome on the Harley is masterfully painted by legendary artist Richard Sturdivant. Many scenes from Mickey's career appear on the bike in extraordinary detail. The tank is painted in Yankee pinstripes, he fenders in faux-Louisville Slugger wood grain, he bike has images of the Triple Crown, ction from the 1960s, all of Fame plaque, nd a rookie year image of the Mick. The seat was made from the same leather Rawlings uses for it's baseball gloves. The current Texas license plate is "MANTLE 7". Perhaps most poignant of all is the illustrated poem David wrote in memory of his Dad.

This stunning Harley has been entered in three motorcycle shows including the "Easy Rider Show", eaturing many of the most exceptional motorcycles in the country. In each of these events, The Mick" Harley took "Best in Show"!

Before I purchased this motorcycle in 2003, t had been displayed in Mickey Mantle's Restaurant in NY. After I purchased it, t was displayed at Minute Maid Park (Astros) in 2007 where it received more attention that Mickey's 1955 World Series Ring and his 1965 Game Used Jersey!

In 2008, t was displayed at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station, X. Upon return from the Bush Museum, had the battery removed and the bike made ready for long-term display/storage. It was in perfect running condition up until that time and I guarantee it to be ready to run if the battery and fluids are replaced.

It has 1,980 miles on it. David rode it sparingly. I rode it only to keep it in good running condition. I don't know whether to classify this as a motorcycle or as a work of art. It is definitely an investment piece. I had no intention of purchasing it in 2003 until I laid eyes on it. It was (and still is) a sight to behold! I also have dozens of pictures of the creation of the bike at a Harley Davidson shop near Dallas, X. I also have detail invoices of all parts and prices that went into the bike. Those pictures and invoices along with the keys will accompany the bike when sold.

The frame is made by Atlas but all other parts are Harley Davidson. This is definitely a one-of-a-kind item for the Harley Davidson fan, ickey Mantle fan, ankees fan, otorcycle fan or just a baseball fan! But especially for someone who loves Harleys AND Mickey Mantle!

The motorcycle comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (issued in 2003) signed by Merlyn Mantle (Mickey's wife), nd Danny and David Mantle (Mickey's sons).

The buyer can pick up the motorcycle in Beaumont, X or can arrange to have it picked up and delivered at buyer's expense. Please contact me with any questions.

About the Seller (Randall Swearingen) –

I met Mickey Mantle at his fantasy camp in 1994. Sadly, e passed away the following year. Since that time, became one of the most noted Mantle collectors and amassed one of the largest Mantle collections (if not the largest). In 2007, authored a book titled “A Great Teammate: The Legend of Mickey Mantle”. I also created and maintained the website www.mickeymantle.com for the Mantle family for many years.

In Jane Leavy's New York Times best selling book "The Last Boy", n the Preface, he wrote: "Swearingen devoted much of the next fifteen years and a considerable amount of money to preserving, rotecting and defending The Mick. He developed the official Web site for Mantle's family, uthored a Mick encomium, A Great Teammate', nd assembled in his Houston office one of the largest collections of Mantle memorabilia in the country."
