Description

https://www. youtube. com/watch?v=K0U8wR18FK8 1992 Gold Wing SE. 500 Teal in color. 25. 86 original miles and climbing. It was purchased new in Macon. GA 2-2-92 from Capital Cycle for $13. 83. Mr. Glover purchased it from the original owners estate in non-running condition. I purchased 6-29-13 from him with 14. xx miles in running condition. I have the original bill of sale and his repair paperwork from new. He had it for a year or so after getting it from an estate where it sat for years outdoors. So as a result. cosmetically. the bike is not good. The mechanical condition is excellent and the very best part of this machine. What I have done to date: A) Highlights from 14. xx miles to 20. xx miles: 1) I immediately replaced the original dry rotted tires with new set of Elite3’s with new valve stems and balanced by Capital Cycle. 2) I immediately changed the engine oil and filter. A Honda filter was on the bike when I got it and that's all I use. 3) Next I put new factory Honda timing belts on. The mileage at this change is recorded in paint pen on the cover of the timing belts. I also have the old original belts. 4) I cleaned the gas tank while still mounted on the bike. Removed the fuel pump. I inspected. cleaned and put it back with new in tank supply lines. (All gas lines from tank to carbs are new and high quality. all molded hoses are Honda) My long skinny arm fit down through the top hole in the tank allowing me to scrub. clean. mop the old gas. rust and general junk that collects in old tank bottoms. 5) Both carburetors were removed and replacement jets/gaskets were installed (note the previous owner had the carbs professionally rebuilt so the new diaphrams were still in great shape) The carbs were then synchronized. New molded gas lines from Honda installed along with a fresh Honda fuel filter. 6) The front forks were removed and new fork seals and fork oil were installed from Honda. 7) LED lights added as shown in photos. Headlight lamps updated with new. slightly brighter but within spec for wattage. 8) Aftermarket shifter support added to aid in the best shifts possible. also it eleminates strain on the shifter shaft and associated oil seal . It's like this one http://www. goldwingfacts. com/forums/7-sale-wanted-forum/472905-gl1500-auxiliary-shifter-pivot-sale. html. B) From 20. xx miles to present:1) Now for the fun part. The cooling system. The thermostat was replaced with OEM 12 feet of the best silicone heater hose available with new fuel injection type clamps and stainless Gaits Unicoils to make sweeping bends in the pipe were installed. Also the very hard to reach and odd shaped Honda radiator hose connected to the thermostat was replaced even though it looked very good. While I was there I pulled the dreaded cross over pipes and replaced all 4 O rings. Read about this repair. it has to be done sooner or later on all 1500’s and more than 1 owner has sold his bike cheap rather than tackle the repair. It’s done now. and done properly with Honda OEM parts. nbsp;and should last for another 20 years. No expense spared here. https://www. youtube. com/watch?v=K6nARrJHg9k All of the associated heater pipe tee fittings were replaced with new Honda fittings. I pulled the water pump to inspect and there was zero end play. so I put a new Honda O ring on and reinstalled. With the entire system completely empty of antifreeze I installed Evans antifreeze/coolant. http://www. evanscooling. com/ OVERVIEWWhat does not work; CB radio. on board air compressor is removed. the controls for the compressor are in place. the throttle is slightly stickey at low RPM's. What is great about this GL 1500: It starts. runs. rides absolutely great. Reliable and ready for your cross country adventure. She pulls through all the gears perfect and strong with no complaints from the drivetrain. It's smooth. And for me this is a very comfortable bike to ride. My longest ride on this machine in one day was over 700 miles. (The seat has an Air Hawk cousion inside and seat hight can be adjusted an inch or two depending on the amount of air. )This engine has no blow by! Amazing machine. See video here: https://www. youtube. com/watch?v=fMoNuwrknIk It does not use oil or smoke. (parked on a side stand all 1500’s will smoke slightly on start up. park it on the center stand and it will not smoke on start up) There are NO leaks and it does NOT use any oil between 3. 00 mile changes. Reverse is nice to have and works perfect. Cruise. self cancelling blinkers. nbsp;ALL lights work. all dash lights such as kickstand down. high low beam. A number of LED lights were added as well. Comes with 715 page Clymer Maintenance . roubleshooting. Repair manual. Bike is being sold as is as described above. I will not accept returns on this sale. I recommend seeing the bike in person or asking as many questions as possible before bidding. Test rides with MC endorsement only. A 500. 00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT IN PAYPAL IS REQUIRED WITHIN 24 HOURS OF AUCTION ENDING. THE IS BALANCE DUE IN 7 DAYS OF AUCTION ENDING IN CASH. SOLD AS IS WITH NO WARRANTY OR GUARANTEE.
