2005 Honda Superhawk 996 28. 00 miles ** Clear title ** Newer fluids. filter. plugs. manual cam chain tensioners. tires. chain. sprocketsUp for bids is my bike. a 2005 Honda Superhawk 996 (AKA the Honda VTR1000F). This is an amazing bike and is in great shape. I regretfully need to sell it but not because I want to. I've owned 8-9 bikes from dirt bikes to cruisers to super sports and this is. by far. my favorite bike. The 996cc V-twin motor gives it an amazing sound that I can't even describe except as a "snarl" and this motor pushes the bike with lots of torque to get you going. If you are familiar with the Superhawks then you already know how great these bikes are but if not i very seriously recommend you do a search on the Internet for "Honda Superhawk Reviews" and read up. You'll only read good things. It's a sport bike that I've had on all day (10+ hour) rides up through the mountains and has more than enough power to keep it fun while being comfortable. Don't let it fool you. it may not be a race bike but don't forget it's still a 1000cc lightweight motorcycle and has a factory top speed of 155MPH!The exhaust pipes are stock but have been gutted and they are about as loud as any aftermarket pipes. nothing illegal or annoying. and have an amazing sound. especially on going through the gears on the highway. The bike has gobs of torque and I really couldn't recommend this bike to a newbie because although it is forgiving and easy to ride you need to understand to respect it. The bike has 2 giant carbs that need work perfectly fine -- no hard starts. not stalling. no hiccups at speed. they just work. I've owned this bike over 2 years and have never has any problems out of it. The only things wrong with the bike is 1) the fuel level sender in the gas tank sticks so the fuel gauge will sometimes read "empty" when it's full. but works most of the time. 2) The windscreen has a chunk missing as you can see in the pics. I have been meaning to buy a replacement as they're around $40 here on eBay but I never got around to it. Besides this two small things the bike runs great. starts right up. and needs nothing. Cosmetically the bike looks good for a 10 year old bike with 28. 00 miles but isn't perfect. The seat has a small tear (less than 1" on the edge. see pics) towards the back and the paint has a few cracks/chips and scuffs but nothing major. You can see some paint chips or cracks in the paint but don't worry. the fairing is in good shape and isn't going to break or have any major issues. The tank has no dents or any major damage. just some normal wear and scratches but still looks great. The exhaust pipes have some scuffs and dings but look good overall. I didn't have a chance to give the bike a deep clean and you can see this in the pics but with a good Saturday afternoon of cleaning you can have it really looking great. Maintenance has all been taken care of. I have changed the cam chain tensioners for manual tensioners because the Honda factory ones were the only weak point of this awesome motor. Even if you don't buy my Superhawk please make sure you buy a bike with manual CCTs or plan on buying them and upgrading as soon as you get the bike. The chain and sprocket were replaced 2 seasons ago (stock gearing) and are in great shape. cleaned and lubed. The tires are Michelin Pilot Power2CTs and are great sport bike tires and have worked great for me. The rear was replaced 2 seasons ago and the front was put on last Fall. The brakes are in great shape with a good amount of pad left. The battery was replaced two seasons ago so it should get you another season or so. When I replaced the cam chain tensioners I also put new Iridium plugs in (called for my factory manual) so you won't need plugs for tens of thousands of miles. Also put a new air filter with a Honda factory replacement and did an oil change about 1500 miles ago. While I was at it I flushed and replaced the clutch and brake fluids with fresh fluid and bled the lines. Bidding/Pickup/Deposit: This bike literally needs nothing but a rider and maybe a windscreen and fuel gauge sending unit but those things aren't necessary. however. as with any used vehicle I cannot warranty the bike.
