1973 HONDA XL 250 MOTOSPORT.
Please read entire listing before bidding. Up for auction is a rare and highly collectible 1973 Honda XL 250 Motosport.
This machine was groundbreaking when Honda introduced it in 1972.
It was a true dual purpose setting the standard in both design and function for years to come. The first dual purpose with aluminum rims, he first to use a 4-valve 4-stroke engine paving the way for the big bore thumpers to come. It's stunning looks and design was revolutionary at the time. Other than the handlebars it is only 12 inches wide at it's widest point. These are highly sought after collectible motorcycles and very rare especially in this condition.
This particular piece is a an older professional restoration. The previous owner bought it, estored it, nd rode it occasionally until it lost spark. After that he put it on display in his music shop where it sat for years til I was able to purchase it after months of negotiation.
Look at the pictures it was a meticulous restoration, ll I did was wash it, etail it, nd touch up a few areas. It has been professionally repainted, ot exactly as original but true to the original paint scheme while at the same time making a one of a kind piece. Seat is perfect (probably new), hrome extremely nice for cheap early 70's Jap chrome. It is complete and straight, ires are new, ank was coated, etcock was replaced as well as levers, ubbers, tc. Battery took a charge but I don't know the age so it may need to be replaced. All lights, rakes, ork. Shifts thru all gears. It is unmodified and complete.
Please note as I said this is NOT RUNNING at this time. It lost spark on the previous owner and was parked, tored in a heated music shop. Compression is excellent, icks freely, arb is clean, nd I did check - it has no spark. I have restored many vintage bikes, ut I'm weak in electronics and don't have the tools to dig into it. Could be a wire, connector, oints, coil, don't know. So if you want to ride this in addition to displaying it and are handy you'll need to spend a little time on it, f not plan on spending a few bucks at your local bike shop.
It has a clean title signed by the previous owner. The title says 1974 as it was common back then to assign the year on the title the year it was sold. It has a build date of 08/1972.
Picture really are worth a thousand words, heck it out closely, sk any questions. If are close by, eel free to make arrangements to see it in person. THIS IS A SUPER NICE EXAMPLE OF ONE OF HONDA'S MOST GROUNDBREAKING MOTORCYCLES. Don't miss this one for your collection, hey don't come up often. I'm not giving this away but reserve is reasonable. I took into consideration you will have to spend a few bucks to get it running.
I will not ship but will make any reasonable efforts to accommodate the shipper of your choice. Do not bid if you cannot or will not pay. I will report you and Ebay will ban you. Good Luck!
