Description

This is bittersweet. I am forced to sell my motorcycle to pay for my fiance's ring. I am a grad student and don't have that much cash. My motorcycle is inspired by three others: Carpy's 1976 "G. C. R. Santiago Motorcycle's "Breitling Cafe Racer. and the 1966 Honda Black Bomber. I spared no expense and made sure to get it serviced three or four times a year since I am not a mechanic. 13K miles. Kick AND electric start first time. every time (hot and cold). Used the highest quality (and nicest) parts. I also had a guy who was on the Discovery Channel cafe racer TV show a few times. make a custom metal bracket for my seat ($425) AND a black leather rolled seat ($285). The leather rolled seat is on a piece of metal. and is very substantive. It also detaches via Velcro. which allows you access to the battery et al. Bike runs well. and has great compression. The battery doesn't die like the overwhelming majority of vintage bikes because of the new charging system/regulator and stator. In other words. the more you ride. the more the system charges the battery. This means you can ride many miles without worrying. With the few stated exceptions. Triborough motorcycles (located in Greenpoint-Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. NY) did all the work. Overall/exterior -new Progressive chrome shocks ($300). -new Russell fittings. -OEM new fender ($90) -OEM new fork seals ($40) -New bucket headlight ($75). -4 Posh-Factory turn signals from Japan ($245 total). -new gas filter ($40) -OEM new petcock (OEM -- $55). -Teflon front and rear brakes ($50) -new tire inner tubing -Tires have plenty of tread -tank professionally chromed ($300) -knee pads ($25) -Black vertical license plate ($40) -brand new carbs -oil replaced -Bar end mirrors -OEM brake lever. end rubbers -OEM screws for "450" sign -seat ($125) (cb750cafe. com -- Carpy) -replaced right and left switches ($175)Electrical -electric charging system ignition ($175) -ignition coils. battery monitor ($35). -brand new battery ($95) -new stator custom for charging system ($?) -new British made chrome tail light (cb750cafe. com -- Carpy) ($95) -battery indicator (see below)Installed battery indicator that tells you how much juice is left in battery. It uses LEDs. Indicator is small and chrome -- located on the front of the bucket headlight. with easy view in day or night. Looks flush with the design of the bike. (If you look closely. it's located at 8'oclock from the speedo/tach. ) Professionally installed. of course -- never had a problem with any of Triborough's electrical/mechanical work. The head mechanic there has been dealing with vintage Japanese motorcycles for way over twenty years; nice triple tree; and clubman's of course (fully adjustable). The not so good: Speedometer doesn't work ($40 replace on eBay); 2nd gear makes a lot of noise but doesn't bother me; top of tailpipe is a little dark. but this is more or less normal; needs new turn signal indicator bulb (though I ride fine without it). 2 inch round shallow dent on top of tank -- not a deep dent at all -- unnoticeable from side. a few minor paint chips on seat hump which are. again. unnoticeable and look like they're part of design (visible in picture #2 -- located near racing stripe). Fun factsI get a lot of compliments from random people in the city -- some want to buy my bike and ask how much. while others just admire. I also came across an artist who specializes in painting pictures of motorcycles. I was amazed by his work and reached out to him. He ended up doing a painting of my bike for his motorcycle art show in Philly. I've included that photo in this listing and will give you his contact information should you be interested in purchasing that painting. I can send you the high quality file that artist sent me of the painting. It's possible to go to a print shop and get a super-sized image for pretty cheap or order a super high quality print from the artist himself (appropriately priced). How cool would a print of your bike be on your garage wall?? Will accommodate Uship or any other service you may want to use. Please ask any questions!
