My name is Jerod Walter and I maintain a collection of modern and vintage motorcycles for a private collector. There are two categories of motorcycles that are always on site. While most are located in a climate controlled showroom. there are also the bikes that are awaiting maintenance or in need of restoration that are located in the on site motorcycle shop. Every so often we need to make room and thin the herd for new bikes coming in. The following bike comes straight from the showroom and is in perfect running condition. We will be selling this 1971 SL350 resto mod for NO RESERVE! This is a unique. one of a kind SL that was personally built by myself to the current owner's liking. The frame and all red parts were powder coated red by Alamo Crosslink Powder Coating in San Antonio. We purchased a custom decal made to resemble the original Honda stripe from Reproduction Decals out of Canada and the tank and side covers were painted a metallic black and the fenders painted silver to match the decal. Under the fenders. we used a rhino lining type spray for protection. The paint is still in beautiful condition with no scratches or chips. The motorcycle has only been ridden about 50 miles since the restoration. This bike was purchased in 2013 in non running condition and the owner decided to turn it into a custom style dirt bike to ride around the ranch. New lightweight pistons and rings were installed using the original bore. All of the gaskets on the engine have been replaced. Stainless allen bolts were used to replace the original hardware on the engine and throughout the motorcycle in place of any 8mm screws or bolts. Every part that had a faded clear coat covering was polished and new points and condenser were installed. Because this was meant to be a dirt bike used around the ranch. some things were left as is but in fully functioning condition. The cables are all original but have been cleaned and lubricated. No parts were re-chromed on the bike but they still maintain a nice shine with only very minor surface rust that is only noticeable when seen up close. The original rear shocks were replaced with a set of Hagon shocks. The inside of the gas tank was rusted badly so it was cleaned thoroughly. de-rusted and coated using KBS Gold coating. No cheap Cream product was used! This sealant is sturdy and permanent. The fork seals were replaced. the tubes were polished and 15 weight Bel-rey fork oil was added. The seat and foam were also replaced with a reproduction seat cover from EBay. The grips and foot pegs are also new and the rear foot pegs were removed. The original handlebars were badly bent so a set of reproduction NOS style bars were installed along with reproduction levers. We decided to install knobby dirt bike tires to get the bike around the ranch more easily. The carburetors were disassembled and ultrasonic cleaned and new gaskets were installed. The original jets were just fine and we decided to keep them stock as I find a lot of times after market carb kits can be a pain. The mufflers are the originals and not in perfect shape. There is a patch welded on the left muffler by the previous owner and the right muffler is dented. They work perfectly fine. however. The mileage reads 2845 and due to the condition of the inside of the cylinders. I do believe that to be correct. This bike runs absolutely fantastic! It starts on the first or second kick cold and sometimes does not even need any choke whatsoever. It idles perfectly at 1100 RPMs. This little Honda is a blast to ride in the dirt or could easily be converted back to a dual sport with some new tires. Everything works as it should except the horn. I believe it needs a new switch. We never addressed the issue because a horn wasn't really needed to cruise around on the ranch. The decision was made to sell because of the lack of times it gets ridden. With a Polaris on hand. it is usually more practical to scoot around with four wheels on the rocky Texas Hill Country terrain. This bike is just plain fun and someone who doesn't care about originality as much will get a great running vintage classic that has been tastefully modified. This motorcycle will include a clear Colorado title. It is located in Wimberley. TX about 40 miles south of Austin. We will require a deposit of $500 through PayPal within 24 hours of the auction's end. The remaining balance will need to be received through a wire transfer. cash in person. or certified check that will need to be cleared through the bank before the motorcycle is released to the buyer. Shipping or pick up is the responsibility of the buyer. however. I can help to recommend a shipper and will work with them however I can to see that the bike makes it safely to its new home. If there are any questions. feel free to email them via EBay or please don't hesitate to call Jerod at (830)237-7507. Thanks and good luck bidding!
